Nnamdi Agwunobi and Tonny Okoroji sign deal |
The Ikeja
office of TOPS was agog Wednesday as the entertainment company owned by Chief
Tony Okoroji, the Chairman of COSON and former President of PMAN announced
itself as a significant player in music production, promotion, distribution,
publishing and top class event activations in Nigeria.
At the
midday event at which finger foods made the rounds and drinks flowed freely,
TOPS signed a major digital music distribution agreement with Greenbee Mobile,
one of the nation’s topmost names in the distribution, advertising, promotion
and marketing of content for mobile telephony and other digital platforms
Present to witness the signing of the agreement was an
outstanding group of young first class Nigerian talents whose music will soon
be spread across the world under the TOPS/GREENBEE agreement. Titillating
everyone was KASI, the songstress born on June 12 who has been talked and
talked about for months. She cruised to the venue in her customized red hot
power bike. There was of course GWILZ, the guy who has gone through the rough
and tumble on the streets of Lagos, become a top-class performer and is not shy
to tell everyone, “I am the King of the Word, the Toastmaster-General and the
Minister of Rap. I was born on October 1 and I am lyrically licensed to kill!”
In full glare was also Kul-GP, the Afro-Pop, Dancehall and
R&B master crooner and rocker whose unique resemblance with Reekado Banks
is talk of the town. “Gee-pee” regards such talk as lazy. At the TOPS/GREENBEE
event, he said again, “They tell me that KUL-GP looks like Reekado Banks. That
is a big lie. KUL-GP is an original. Everything about me is authentic: my
music, my dance, my style; 100% authentic. Since I am the real thing, maybe
Reekado Banks looks like me!”
In the mix was Milly-X, the dashing young
multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, singer and producer who has become a key
player and creative genius in the TOPS revolution. There was also the silky
smooth, good looking and immensely talented Dolzi, the afro-pop singer
nicknamed the King of melody.
Among the friends of TOPS who showed up to lend their
support were COSON General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji; Azeezat, the famous
singer widely called, the Queen of Love; Network Tentacle CEO, Mr. Seyi Allen;
Mr. Bidemi Dairo from Channels TV; Crews
from Bisi Olatilo Show (BOS); GenieNG Music Manager, Mr. Chinedu Obiukwu; Mandu
from TVC and a lot of other people who represent the media among others.
Speaking at the event, an obviously elated Chief Okoroji
said, “It took us time to settle to work with Greenbee Mobile because we were
searching for the very best. I believe that in GREENBEE Mobile, we have found
the best. Our charge to Greenbee is to ensure that the music of TOPS is
available at as many legitimate platforms as possible so that lovers of good
music can access the works without sweat and would not have to resort to piracy
and illegal downloads. We have the stuff and our aim at TOPS is to
revolutionize the digital distribution of Nigerian music with the minimal
infringement of copyright. I have no doubt that as we roll out in January 2017,
everyone will immediately see the difference”
Responding, the CEO of Greenbee Mobile, Mr. Nnamdi Agwunobi
expressed immense pleasure at the partnership between Greenbee and TOPS. In the
words of Mr. Agwunobi, “In the entertainment industry in Nigeria, Chief Tony
Okoroji has a solid reputation for excellence. He knows everybody who is
anybody. For TOPS to have chosen to work with GREENBEE Mobile is something that
we are very proud of and we will not let Chief Okoroji down. We know that in
the last one year, the TOPS team has been working practically 24 hours a day to
produce unique content. We have had the opportunity to examine the content
produced by TOPS and they are captivating. The ball has now been passed to us.
We are in the eighteen and we will score many goals. Music lovers in Nigeria
are promised hit songs after hit songs from TOPS starting January 2017”.
