The
Bayelsa State Government has entered into an agreement with Oyesis Global
Network Nigeria Ltd for the management of the Government House Hospital
Complex, towards actualizing its vision of transforming the state to become a
major medical tourist destination.
Speaking shortly after signing the memorandum of
understanding on Tuesday in Government House, Yenagoa, Governor
Dickson said his administration has already made relevant investments in the
sector, including the complex, to drive the vision.
According to Governor Dickson, the 350-bed Melford
Okilo Memorial hospital and other on-going health projects in the state will
be completed and put to use next year, in addition to the state healthcare
insurance scheme.
The Governor, who noted that most of the health
facilities would be run under a public private partnership arrangement,
called on the people of the state and the general public to take advantage of
the services.
Describing the Diagnostic centre as a world-class
facility, which has been out-sourced to a reputable medical firm, he said the
forensic analysis unit would commence operations in January, next year.
Commenting further on the Government House Hospital
Complex, Governor Dickson described its location as strategic, as the
facility would enjoy constant power supply and security services to boost
service delivery to the people.
In his remarks, the Leader of the Oyesis Global Network
Nigeria Ltd team, Dr. Herbert Oye commended the state government for
providing state-of-the-art health facilities and noted that, with proper
management of the projects, the government would reap bountifully from its
investments.
He assured Governor Dickson of his company’s commitment to
the agreement and to bring its experience to bear on the running of the state
health care delivery system, in accordance with international standards.
