The crowning
of Chioma Obiadi as the 40th Miss Nigeria held at the Eko Hotel and
Suites, in Lagos.
First hosted in 1957, Miss Nigeria, an annual beauty pageant
has continued to showcase the cultural heritage and attributes of Nigerian
women.
This year’s edition saw Chioma Obiadi Stephanie,
an undergraduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University studying geology emerge
the 40th Miss Nigeria. She represented Anambra State at the competition.
She recently represented Nigeria at the 2016 Miss Earth
beauty pageant in the Philippines.
Over 1,000 beauty queen hopefuls entered for the Miss
Nigeria pageant. However, only 37 made the grand finale.
The event was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life,
including Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Governor of Ogun State; and Mrs Grace
Oyelude, the first Miss Nigeria.
Some of the judges included ace movie producer, Kunle
Afolayan; Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic, Ibinabo Fiberesima, publisher
of Genevive Magazine, Betty Irabor, Chioma Ude, Yemi Keri, Ezinne Anyaoha,
amongst others.
