Ice Prince Dumps Chocolate City, To float Own Label
Record label, Chocolate City appears to be losing its artistes in droves. The latest to dump the Lekki-based music outfit is rap artiste, Ice Prince who has confirmed that he is no longer signed to Chocolate City.
The ‘Aboki’ crooner, who had an interview on 96.9 Cool FM on the Midday Oasis with Dotun and Temi, made it clear that his contract with the label, expired two years ago and due to his personal relationship with the label owners, decided not to make it public. He however, made it clear that he still has some working relationship with them.
The rapper who was signed in 2010 to the record label, has grown to become one of Africa’s most recognized rappers. The relationship has also spawned two albums, with countless hit singles.
Ice Prince has since moved on, working on floating his record label, Super Cool Cats. The rapper has in the past two years removed every public link between him and Chocolate City, wiping their signage off his social media handles, and also off his press releases.
The rapper is third act to announce departure from Chocolate City in the past six months, after the earlier departure of Kahli Abdu & VHS Safari, and rapper Milli. According to sources, he already has artistes signed to him, and will officially unveil them next week.
Ice Prince is set to release his third studio album titled "Jos to the world" which follows "Everybody loves Ice Prince"(2011) and "Fire of Zamani" (2013).
The rapper who is excited about the new project has since shared the development via his Instagram page, where he is seen with the likes of DJ Spinall, Yung L, Ladi Poe .
The 'Aboki' rapper and singer’s sophomore album “Fire of Zamani” met harsh reviews from critics and music analysts alike but that hasn’t seemed to discourage the pop act from firing on to his next body of work which we are going to see in “Jos to the world”.
