Three associate professors, Dr. Lionel Rawlins, Dr. Gabriel Fruster and Dr. Tristan Porvis who work at the American University of Nigeria, Yola have converted to Islam.
Dr. Rawlins is a retired American Marine who is Head of Security at AUN, Dr. Fruster is the Director of Abti Printing Press of the University while Dr. Porvis who is a senior lecturer with the University.
Rawlins and Porvis chose to be renamed Muhammed while Fuster has been renamed Jibril.
They were formally presented to the Muslim community at the AUN Academy Juma’at msoque on Friday by the Chief Imam of the Mosque Ustaz Dauda Bello amidst initiation prayers for them.

The professors said they decided to join Islam after careful study of the religion and after they were convinced that Islam was the best way of life.
