I’d Love To Hit It Big In Music …Genuizz

Effyzzie Music Group home of Africa's promising diva Yemi Alade, last year, included in the house Nigerian rapper/singer and songwriter Geniuzz.
Born Manji Zakka Deyin, Geniuzz was raised in Jos, Plateau state of Nigeria, by parents Zakka and Rahila Deyin Deshi. Manji started showing a genuine interest in music at a tender age by penning rhymes, songs, and poems not forgetting joining his local church choir and performing within his neighborhood at locally organized shows.
Today, he is currently striving to be the next big star to break through from Effyzzie Music. Pulse Nigeria had a conversation with the artiste on his career, the industry, and how the music comes through. An edited version of that conversation is below.

How did you get signed by Effyzzie Music?
I was in Jos, plateau state making music and on one fateful day got a call from the Effyzzie music boss Mr Taiye Aliyu to come and work with the label after hearing some of my previously recorded songs.
Geniuzz
As a new act to Effyzzie Music, do you feel pressured to hit it big?
I'd love to hit it big! We all do, but I am never under pressure to do so. It will happen at the appointed time, All I can do is to work hard and make good music.
What's genre of music do your strength lie?
The Afro- pop and also a bit of Hip-hop too. But at the same time I don’t limit my mind when making music, I don't restrict myself to a particular genre. I just go with the flow.

What's your take on the industry? Do you think it's easier for emerging acts to be more successful?
To be honest, I think a lot of structures need to be in place for the industry to be easier for emerging acts. Especially when it comes to promotions. With that in place, a lot of upcoming acts will achieve success!
How's your relationship with Yemi Alade?
Super!  It's a brother sister thing!! She has been supporting me since day one of joining the team. She has been a team player.  Got me on stage with her within and outside the country.  I think it's great!
You just released the video to your debut collaboration with Yemi. How does that feel?
It feels amazing! Working on a song with Yemi was least expected, at least not as soon as it happened but Yemi with her humble self, decided to work on the song with me and I was very excited she did, the video was shot by Paul Gambit and it’s a very entertaining video to watch you would enjoy it.

Would we be getting more of that?
Sure! In due time more collaborations will happen. In fact, just wait on the projects to come from Effyzzie Music Group.
What's special about your music, that gives you the edge?
“The style I put into it is unique and limited to me. I make sure it is original and comes out of my innermost self. That way I can guarantee uniqueness”
So with your career kicking off, at what point would you look back and say you are successful?
Success is relative and for me since the beginning I've always felt successful.  Every single achievement, every day is success to me.
Any last words for your fans?
Sure, I encourage all my people out there to go and watch my new video for ‘Underrate’ which features Yemi Alade on Youtube and subscribe to my Youtube channel, and also to follow me on twitter and Instagram, feel free to hit me up anytime. Stay blessed and stay winning, thank you.
