Gov. Emmanuel To Feature In One Love Concert
The executive governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, is billed to forward some dancing steps later in the month of May at a show tagged One Love Musical Concert.
The event put together by the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Akwa Ibom State chapter, is aimed at bringing all the musicians in the state under one roof, as a sign of peace and unity.
According to the chairman of the state chapter of PMAN, Comrade Enefiok George Akpan, popularly known as Chaiker Banton, the show billed to hold inside the main bowl of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, will bring together musicians from all the nooks and crannies of the state, as well as notable national stars, to exhibit the resolve of the musicians in the state to bury their differences and come together in one accord.
“Musicians in the state have been embroiled in distrust and disaffection for a long time now, for one reason or the other. Now we have all agreed to bury our hatchets and work as one in other to make progress as professionals in our field which is music. Enough is enough for in-fighting and backstabbing. And there is no better way to celebrate this coming together than through this well packaged show aptly titled, One Love Concert,” said Banton.
He further disclosed to this paper that top personalities have been invited to grace the event including Governor Emmanuel who will formally open the floor with a dance step along with his wife, members of his cabinet and top officials from the national secretariat of the union led by the President, Pretty Okafor.
The show, according to Banton, is also meant to celebrate with the governor for his recent victory in the Supreme Court.
“We hold our governor in a very high esteem. We the musicians in the state are happy that at last, justice has been done by declaring the governor the rightful winner in last year’s gubernatorial polls in the state.
“During the long legal tussle, economic and social activities came to a near standstill and this affected every aspect of life in the state because the governor and his cabinet were not given a breathing space to settle down and bring the dividends of democracy to the people. Now we can celebrate with His Excellency for his success at the court. We trust that the governor, being a very hard working and intelligent personality, will work to make life better for the people of the state,” Banton continued.
