7 Powerful Reasons Men Leave The Women They Love

Sometimes women have a problem with men pulling away from their relationship.
Sometimes men leave the relationship for undisclosed reasons leaving women puzzled. There are several possible reasons, some of them are mentioned below: 1. Not enough space Enough space should be provided to both partners in a relationship. People need space and don’t always like it when someone intrudes on it. Men might go out with their friends for fun and some women feel they are cheating on them. They keep calling to ensure they are not with someone else. Most men don’t like this and are irritated by such actions. They feel trapped. Smart women know that guys need space. 2. Women try to fix men We should accept our partners as they are. Some women look at potential not reality. Trying to change a man for your own reasons can end a relationship. People change for themselves, not someone else. Constant attempts to change a person you claim to love are not going to work. Accept him as he, this will give you better results. 3. Lack of attraction Attraction should be a mixture of physical and emotional connectivity with your partner. The word attraction should not be confused with constant fireworks. Its attraction that keeps a relationship going and on track. When there is lack of attraction, men get bored and leave the relationship as it becomes a burden. Women must keep the attraction level up to get going. When your guy is attracted and fascinated by you nothing can affect your relationship and everything else matters less. 4. Lack of satisfaction $e*u@l compatibility is important in a relationship. Be open and honest about each other’s needs. 5. Incompatibility Compatibility is a basic requirement for a good relationship. Sometimes we think there is no common interest. Not understanding each other, fighting over small issues, and not respecting each other become reasons for men to step out of the relationship. 6. Boredom Sometimes relationships become predictable and boring, its tough for a guy to get involved. Doing the same things every day and not making extra efforts to keep your relationship exciting can be a reason men leave the relationship. 7. Constantly talking about other men Sometimes women become too involved in friendships with other men and talk too much about them in front of their guy. Many men don’t appreciate this. Every man wants to feel special and be the only one a woman is thinking and talking about.

Orlando shooting: Sydney Music Stars Pay Tribute To Victims With Town Hall Concert

Trevor Ashley was performing at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival when he first heard about the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. The news hit hard, he says, as it did the entire LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and intersex) community. "I felt like I'd lost family. When something like this happens to our community, it shocks everybody."
Ashley, a music theatre star, attended a candlelit vigil in Adelaide the next day. "I said to a friend I think we should be doing a concert. I felt we needed to do something not only to help raise money but also something that brings the community together. We needed a moment to all be together and feel some solidarity." Ashley put the word out of Facebook and offers of support and involvement came flooding in from the arts community, resulting in From Sydney With Love – A Concert for Orlando, to be staged at the Sydney Town Hall on July 11. Among those performing are Magda Szubanski, Joel Creasey, Bob Downe, Paul Capsis, iOTA, Emma Matthews, Simon Burke and Virginia Gay. "It's a night of celebration and love songs," Ashley says. "It's going to be a really special night." Almost 100 per cent of the ticket price will be donated to the Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund to support victims' families, wounded survivors of the incident, and those in the club in need of psychological support and counselling, Ashley adds. The City of Sydney rushed to support the idea, offering the Town Hall as a venue and a cash grant towards the production and marketing costs. For Szubanski, From Sydney With Love is a chance to amplify a message of support she sees as lacking in some quarters. "I was enormously disappointed by Malcolm Turnbull's comments," she says. "There was not one mention of solidarity or support or comfort for the LGBTQI community. At times like this, gestures of solidarity, unity, and love in the face of hatred are really important." From Sydney With Love is also a reach out to the younger members of Sydney's LGBTQI community, Szubanski says. "Many of the younger people have been very unnerved by the events in Orlando. This is a way of showing that we are an extremely resilient community, and we cope with adversity."

PDP: Sheriff Adamant, Rejects Sack By Court • It’s Good Riddance To Bad Rubbish, Says Ozekhome

An Abuja High Court ruling which removed Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the chair¬man of the Peoples’ Demo¬cratic Party (PDP) may have been immersed in controversy. Sheriff, factional chairman of the party rejected the court order and is insisting he remains chairman while his opponents, the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Care¬taker Committee are rejoic¬ing.
Justice Valentine Ashi declared the purported amendment of section 47(6) of PDP Constitution, 2012 at a special National Convention held in Abuja as unconstitutional, null and void. The court voided the said amendment on the basis that there was no compliance with manda¬tory provisions of Article 66 (2) and (3) of the PDP constitution. He held that the amend¬ment offends section 222 of the 1999 Constitution which stipulates that na-tional officers of the par¬ties must be democratically elected and not appointed. “By reason of the above, the purported amendments introduced to the consti¬tution on the aforesaid dates, are hereby set-aside. “All persons, individuals, servants or agents of PDP parading themselves as na¬tional officers of the PDP pursuant to the purported amendment which has now been nullified are hereby restrained from further pa¬rading themselves in these capacities, “ Justice Ashi held. Speaking with Daily Sun, Sheriff said the court judg¬ment has nothing to do with his mandate, which he insisted would terminate in 2018. “The case has nothing to do with Modu Sheriff. The case is about amendment of the party constitution. “So, I don’t know why they are linking it with my leadership. It had to do with the 2014 amendment of the PDP Constitution, it had nothing to do with my ten¬ure. I don’t know why Ni¬gerians are so much inter¬ested in Ali Modu Sheriff.” Reacting to the removal, Chief Mike Ozekhome said it is good riddance to bad rubbish. “Sheriff’s ouster is the winnowing out of pre¬tentious chaff from genuine seeds of democracy. It is clear from any discerning mind that Sheriff was noth¬ing but a fifth columnist planted on the soft soil of PDP to destabilise it and cause internal explosion so that it will wither away opposition and give vent to a dominant one party sys¬tem.” The amended section of the party’s constitu¬tion, which was done in 2014 provides that “where a vacancy occurred, the ap¬propriate Executive Com¬mittee of the party will appoint any person from the zone or the area of that person or the officer that left the office, to fill the va¬cancy pending the conduct of an election.” In the suit brought by a member of the party in Ondo State, Mr. Joseph Jero, he questioned the 2014 amendment on the grounds that it offends the true position of PDP Con¬stitution of 2012. Jero said the true position is that where a vacancy oc¬curred, the appropriate Ex¬ecutive Committee of the party will appoint any per¬son from the zone or area of the officer that left the office to fill the vacancy to serve out the tenure of the officer. Sheriff was appointed by the National Executive Committee of the PDP to complete the tenure of Adamu Muazu which will elapse in 2018. However, the plaintiff approached the court chal¬lenging the 2014 amend¬ment on the ground that the amendments under which Sheriff came on board did not follow due process as stipulated in the party’s constitution. For instance, the party constitution procedures for amendment stipulates that a two months notice must be given to the secretary of the party’s NEC who will communicate in writing to all the branches of the party on the proposed amendment before it could be done The court agreed with the submissions of plaintiff’s counsel, Uche Mnadi and held that Sher¬iff’s ascension to office was unlawful as it was based on amended provision of the PDP Constitution said to be illegally introduced in De-cember 2014. The judge nullified the amendment of the said pro¬vision which he ruled was done in violation of man-datory provisions of Article 66 (2) and (3) of the party’s constitution. But, two members of the part’sy Board of Trustees (BoT), in separate tele¬phone interviews, hailed the judgment. Chief Ebenezer Babatope said the court verdict will put an end to what he called impunity being perpetrated by the former Borno gover¬nor. “That’s a good judgment because Sheriff has no busi¬ness being there. A court has asked him to go and he must go! He is a stranger in our party and he has no business leading PDP. So, we are all very happy.” To former PDP deputy national chairman (South- West), Chief Bode George, it would put an end to “politi¬cal rascality of Sheriff.” Speaking in the same vein, the Caretaker Com¬mittee, under the leadership of Senator Ahmed Makarfi, expressed delight over the judgment. Secretary of the commit¬tee, Senator Ben Obi de¬scribed the judgment as a welcome development. “We expect more posi¬tive court rulings in the days ahead in favour of our party. It is time for them to face the truth and retrace their steps,” he said. He fur¬ther called on Sheriff and his supporters to stop their hardline posture and coop¬erate with the committee to move the party forward. “We believe that truth must be upheld; we want all hands on deck to chart the way forward,” he added. Igbo Nation Has Lost Illustrious Son, Says Ugwuanyi, others • As Bode George, Daniel, Mbadinuju mourn

The demise of Chief Ojo Maduekwe has been described as sad by Governor Ifeanyi Ug¬wuanyi of Enugu State. Ugwuanyi said it was un¬fortunate that his demise would happen at this time. His Chief Press Secre¬tary, Uwakwe Abugu, who spoke on his behalf, said the Igbo nation has lost one of her fine leaders.
“It is unfortunate that this happened at this dif¬ficult time. Nigeria has lost a great leader and the government and people of Enugu State certainly mourn his demise. We con¬dole with his family, the people of Abia State and Nigeria as a whole, he said. Former Peoples Demo¬cratic Party (PDP) deputy national chairman, Chief Bode George described Ma-duekwe’s death as a great loss to the party. George also bemoaned the loss of an intellectual whose contributions to the PDP would be greatly missed. “Oh my God! It is a great loss. “The PDP has lost a great contributor to the develop¬ment of the party. He was an intellectual giant, who has contributed greatly to the development of our na¬tion. It is, indeed, a great loss and he’ll be sorely missed.” On his part, former gov¬ernor of Ogun State, Chief Gbenga Daniel described the late Ojo as “a suave dip¬lomat. Daniel’s initial reaction was one of shock and sur¬prise. He later said: “Ojo was a versatile, intelligent and detribalised Nigerian. Our country has lost a most diligent, upright and suave diplomat.” Former Anambra gover¬nor, Chinwoke Mbadinuju remembered Maduekwe “as a man of the people. In his days as the PDP secre¬tary, he was a friend to so many people. He served in different capacities at the federal level and he went on to represent Nigeria as an ambassador. “This is a terrible thing for him to die at a time like this. He carried him¬self well. His death, at this time, should be mourned because it is sad that a situ¬ation like this should even occur. He was like a moving train. “Those who worked with him, particularly, at the party level, will know that someone great has been lost. It is a loss so great, not only to the South East, but the entire country.” Source: The Sun.

Cleric Lashes EFCC Over Fayose’s Account Freezing

Cleric Lashes EFCC Over Fayose’s Account Freezing A Christian cleric has said that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, stepped beyond its bounds in freezing the personal bank account of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State. This position is taken by the President of God’s Fountain of Life Bible Mission, International Incorporated, Bishop Sam Oyede. He noted that the country was currently grappling with the problem of Niger Delta Avengers, Fulani herdsmen’s menace, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, agitations and warned the EFCC against further heating up the polity by posing as a witch hunting agency. Speaking with newsmen at Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, Oyede said that it was illegal and unconstitutional for the bank account of “a sitting governor to be frozen while in office. “Fayose as a lawfully elected governor enjoys immunity. Yes, certainly, the governor enjoys immunity under section 308 of the 1999 constitution. That is the same immunity that the president and vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria enjoy under that section of the constitution,” he said. Urging President Muhammadu Buhari to call the commission to order, the cleric maintained that “Nigeria is in a democracy, where the rule of law should be upheld and not in a military dictatorship that reels out inhumane decrees. “By this act, it is clear that the EFCC is over-heating the polity. Who is ordering the freezing of Fayose’s account, the anti-graft commission should tell us.” Source: Vanguard.

Ugwuanyi Angry With Magistrates Over Release Of Suspects

The governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, is said to be angry with some magistrates over their penchant for entertaining cases outside their jurisdiction for alleged pecuniary reasons. Ugwuanyi, who addressed some magistrates and judges in
Enugu last week over the matter, was alleged to have wondered how a magistrate could assume jurisdiction over a matter which happened outside his area and release suspected criminals on bail. His visit to the state Judiciary followed the alleged release of some criminals who later carried out a reprisal attack on some members of the local vigilante group- the Neighbourhood Watch who arrested them at Enugu Ezike, in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of the state. The hoodlums who were released were later said to have laid ambush for the members of the vigilante group, who arrested them and burnt their operational vehicle although the vigilante group members escaped death by the whiskers. According to sources, the Neighbourhood Watch members were lured to the place where they were attacked by a police officer and a relation of one of the suspected criminals. Although, the Police were said to have re-arrested some of the criminals, Governor Ugwanyi was said to have been miffed over the development, hence his visit to the state Chief Judge, who reportedly summoned the magistrates to the meeting. A security officer, who is familiar with the case, told Vanguard that the policeman who arranged a meeting with the Neighbourhood Watch members also gave his assault rifle to the hoodlums to execute the assignment. According to him: “Some policemen brought the suspects from the cell in Enugu to Enugu Ezike where they procured a magistrate, who released them on bail. The said magistrate stays in Enugu Ezike because his court was burnt in the area of his jurisdiction.” However, some judges, who spoke on the outcome of the meeting, faulted the visit by Governor Uguwanyi, saying that the government could have petitioned the National Judicial Commission, NJC, instead of making a blanket condemnation of all the magistrates in the state. “Only two magistrates were said to have involved themselves in some of issues raised. The state government should have petitioned against them to the NJC,” they said. Source: Vanguard

Justin Timberlake Slammed For Response To Jesse Williams' BET Awards Speech On Civil Rights Movement Jesse Williams Talks Racism

It was a watershed moment for the black community that ended with Justin Timberlake being accused of white privilege and cultural appropriation. The singer was forced to apologise on Monday for the condescending tone of a Tweet to a black journalist and maintaining "we are all the same" in light of actor Jesse Williams' historic speech at the BET Awards on Monday.
Justin Timberlake was criticised by members of the black community for tweeting 'we are all the same' after a Black Lives Matter speech. The Grey's Anatomy star and activist received a standing ovation for his impassioned sermon on race relations and inequality in America, which has been described by Black Lives Matter activists as a "top tier moment". Things soon went ary when Timberlake tweeted his own praise for Williams, saying he had been "inspired" by the speech. In the stinging social media backlash, Timberlake was accused of cultural appropriation and benefiting from black culture throughout his career - one of the exact issues Williams' mentioned in his speech as "gentrifying our genius". Oh, you sweet soul. The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation. Activists and members of the black community chided Timberlake on Twitter but instead of initially apologising, the singer publicly condescended one of his detractors. "Oh, you sweet soul. The more you realise that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation. Bye," he wrote. Timberlake quickly issued a mea culpa after being accused of ignorance by the black community, defending himself as "misunderstood". "I apologise to anyone that felt I was out of turn. I have nothing but LOVE FOR YOU AND ALL OF US." Do you think Justin Timberlake talks down to Jay Z like that? Did you like the part when Jesse talked about white people stealing from us? That should resonate with you. Black Lives Matter activist and journalist Shaun King said Timberlake had walked into a trap of his own making, even if he didn't mean to be malicious. "I think Justin Timberlake was genuinely inspired when he heard the speech, but that when he heard the last part about "trying us on like costumes" that it probably never occurred to him that some think he does just that," wrote King in New York's Daily News. Williams' profound speech - which called out police brutality and the exploitation of black Americans - went viral instantly, with the actor and activist receiving universal praise online. Recognising Ferguson protesters, the unique contributions of black women to civil rights struggles and domestic stability, as well as police violence as a failure of government, Williams proved an equal to the night's music with his speech. "Freedom is always conditional here," he said. "Freedom is always coming in the hereafter. But the hereafter is a hustle. We want it now." He also saved some barbed words for journalists who had criticised Black Lives Matter activists for their perceived overreach or disorganised tactics. "The burden of the brutalised is not to comfort the bystander," he said. "If you have a critique for the resistance, for our resistance, then you better have an established record of critique of our oppression. "If you have no interest, if you have no interest in equal rights for black people then do not make suggestions to those who do. Sit down." The BET Awards have never shied away from the fact that, despite the wide appeal of many of its stars and performances, the show is meant as a celebration of and conversation for black American audiences. Williams' speech used the reach of pop culture to deliver incendiary civil rights activism - mincing no words about how even the cultural output on display had been mined for exploitation. "We're done watching and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us, burying black people out of sight and out of mind while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil - black gold, ghettoising and demeaning our creations then stealing them, gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit," he said, referencing the song made famous by Billie Holiday for its devastating imagery of lynching. In a show that, at its best moments, drew lines in the sand about the vitality and essence of black culture to the American story, Williams' speech was perhaps its most immediate and passionate example. "Just because we're magic doesn't mean we're not real," he said with a wry wit about stereotypes and full-throated embrace of the potential of reclaiming it."

Flavour Now As 'Professor Johnbull'

Mr Flavour appears to be maintaining his prolificity with yet another new song entitled Professor Johnbull. Flavour N'abania just dropped the interesting piece to listen to. The title, 'Professor Johnbull', is even more thought-provoking. The 2nite music act sings almost totally in his native tongue, however still enjoyable, proving music is no respecter of language, thanks to a top notch production from Masterkraft.

Power Demand By Nigeria To Hit 88,282 Megawatts By 2020

Nigeria’s Demand for power has been estimated to hit about 88,282megawatts by 2020 to level up with activities of the nation’s fast growing economy. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Eko Electricity Distribution Company, who made this known in Lagos, said the nation should adopt alternative sources of energy to meet its energy requirement in the long run.
“With an estimated yearly economic growth rate of between seven per cent and 13 per cent, as well as an urbanisation rate of 3.8 per cent, Nigeria’s electricity demand is projected to grow from 15,730MW in 2016 to 41,133MWby 2018 and 88,282MW by 2020 respectively,”he said. He pointed out that Nigeria is endowed with fossil fuels and other renewable energy sources, but the energy situation is yet to be structured and managed in such a way as to ensure energy sustainability and development. “The commitment of the government towards utilizing alternative energy sources can be appreciated as we see more projects being implemented using solar and other renewable energy sources like biomass and wind,” he said. Giving the breakdown of how the nation’s electricity is being utilized in sectors, he said residential customers consume about 60 per cent; commercial takes 24 per cent; industrial,12 per cent; special customers, 1.4 per cent; street lights, 0.6 per cent; and international customers consumes 2 per cent. According to him, the increase in demand for electric power is noticeable in the residential sector due to increase in population, greater need for housing and rural electrification.

Saraki Ready To Go To Jail Rather Than Succumb To Destroyers Of Democracy

Rather than yield to some nefarious agenda of a few individuals who are out to destroy democracy, the Senate president, Bukola Saraki said he would go to jail. Following his cases in several courts, the Saraki said this in a statement he issued shortly after he appeared at a Federal High Court in Abuja alongside three others for alleged forgery of senate rules.
The Senate President who is also facing criminal trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, for false assets declaration described his latest legal battle as proof of the “persecution and distraction” he is currently enmeshed in. The statement reads, “Today we the leaders of the Nigerian Senate reiterate our innocence against the charges filed by the Attorney General of the Federal Government of Nigeria at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on the allegations of forgery of the Senate Standing Rules document. “In our view, the charges filed by the Attorney General represent a violation of the principle of the Separation of Powers between the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch as enshrined in our Constitution. Furthermore, it is farcical to allege that a criminal act occurred during Senate procedural actions and the mere suggestion demonstrates a desperate overreach by the office of the Attorney General. These trumped up charges is only another phase in the relentless persecution of the leadership of the Senate “This misguided action by the Attorney General begs the question, how does this promote the public interest and benefit the nation? At a time when the whole of government should be working together to meet Nigeria’s many challenges, we are once again distracted by the Executive Branch’s inability to move beyond a leadership election among Senate peers. It was not an election of Senate peers and Executive Branch participants. “Over the past year the Senate has worked to foster good relations with the Executive Branch. It is in all of our collective interests to put aside divisions and get on with the nation’s business. We risk alienating and losing the support of the very people who have entrusted their national leaders to seek new and creative ways to promote a secure and prosperous Nigeria. As leaders and patriots, it is time to rise above partisanship and to move forward together.” Saraki stated that a nefarious group within the government of President Buhari have seized the apparatus of Executive powers to pursue their selfish agenda. “This latest onslaught on the Legislature represents a clear and present danger to the democracy Nigerians fought hard to win and preserve. The suit filed on behalf of the Federal government suggests that perhaps some forces in the Federal Republic have not fully embraced the fact that the Senate’s rules and procedures govern how the legislative body adjudicates and resolves its own disputes,” he said. The Senate President maintained that he would continue to rise above all persecutions and distractions. “Let it be abundantly clear, both as a citizen and as a foremost Legislator, I will continue to rise above all the persecution and distraction that have been visited on me. In the words of Martin Luther King Junior, “the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at a time of challenge and controversy”. “I will remain true and committed to the responsibilities that my citizenship and my office impose on me. Without doubt, the highest of those responsibilities is the steadfast refusal to surrender to the subversion of our democracy and the desecration of the Senate. “This is a cross I am prepared to carry. If yielding to the nefarious agenda of a few individuals who are bent in undermining our democracy and destabilising the Federal government to satisfy their selfish interests is the alternative to losing my personal freedom, let the doors of jails be thrown open and I shall be a happy guest,” Saraki added.

VW To Make $10.2 Billion settlement For Emissions Cheating Scandal

Volkswagen has agreed to take a series of steps costing about $10.2 billion to settle claims from its unprecedented diesel emissions cheating scandal in the U.S., two people briefed on the matter said Thursday. Most of the money would go to compensate 482,000 owners of cars with 2-liter diesel engines that were programmed to turn on emissions controls during lab tests and turn them off while on the road, said the people, who asked not to be identified because a judge has issued a gag order in the case. One of the people said the agreement was tentative and could change by the time the terms are officially announced by the judge Tuesday. The bulk of the cash would be used to fix the cars, buy them back and compensate owners. Some funds would go to government agencies as penalties and for a program to remediate the environmental damage caused by pollution, the person said. Owners would have a choice between selling their vehicles back to VW at the value before the scandal broke Sept. 18, 2015, or keeping the cars and letting the company repair them free of charge. Either way, they would also get $1,000 to $7,000 depending on their cars’ age, with an average payment of about $5,000, one of the people said. Attorneys representing owners, VW and government agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency have not yet agreed on the steps VW will take to repair the cars, the person said. Any fix probably would require a bigger catalytic converter or injection of the chemical urea into the exhaust to help neutralize the pollution. VW spokeswoman Jeannine Ginivan and EPA spokesman Nick Conger wouldn’t comment on the settlement. VW may have to pay additional penalties to government agencies, one of the people said. Source: AP.

Unknown Gun men Attack Family, Escape With 2 Kids In Imo State

The serenity of the sleepy Ezeoha village in Owerri- Nworji community of Nkwere Local Government Area of Imo state was truncated Thursday by the squeaky voice of Mrs Queen Ihieme, following the invasion of her home by some gunmen. Time was 1.35am. At first, no one dared to come out to ascertain the cause of the frantic cry. But when the dust settled, the mother of two was found unconscious in the pool of her blood. The missing children Adanna, Kamsiyochukwu and •Vanguard staff, Tochukwu Ihieme ( with matchet cut )The missing children Adanna, Kamsiyochukwu and •Vanguard staff, Tochukwu Ihieme ( with matchet cut ) Another man with her later discovered to be her brother in-law, Tochukwu Ihieme, a member of staff of Vanguard Media limited, was also soaked with blood. They were too stunned to tell bewildered sympathisers what transpired. After some interminable minutes, Tochukwu Ihieme regained consciousness and revealed to the astonishment of all that some gunmen stormed the apartment and went away with his brother’s two children of ages one and two respectively. How they struck The gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, were three. They were said to have forced their way in through the back door. By then, Tochukwu Ihieme, who came visiting the previous day, woke up following the disturbing sounds, only to be hit with a matchete by one of the intruders. Narrating his ordeal to Crime Guard, the Vanguard staff said: “I am from Anambra state but my younger brother, Nnamdi Ihieme, resides in Imo state with his family. My aged parents were with him. I travelled to his place to enable me take my parents who were sick to the hospital in Imo state and then go back to my base in Anambra. That fateful day, I went to the bank to withdraw N20, 000 with which I bought food stuff which my parents were to take back to Anambra state. We intended travelling the next day. Our ordeal “But the planned journey was foiled following the invasion of the house by three men. One of them held a gun; another was with an axe while the third one was with cutlass. Immediately I woke up to ascertain where the disturbing noise was coming from, they pointed their torchlight at me and at the same time hit me with a machete and asked ‘where is the money?’ They did not even give me any room to respond. Rather, they started beating me with the machete and axe. The third one even threatened to shoot me if I made any effort to fight them. They even matcheted my brother’s wife . At the end, they went away with my brother’s two children…” at this juncture, he held his head groaning in pain.. While Tochukwu was discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment, same could not be said of Mrs Queen Ihieme who was still on admission a week after the incident. Her distraught husband, who was at work when the incident happened, rushed home after a concerned neighbour broke the sad news to him. Husband laments Speaking with Crime Guard, he said: “I don’t know why this kind of fate has befallen me. I do not have problem with anyone that could have warranted such ill treatment on my innocent children. I do not know where they are at the moment. We have combed the entire neighbourhood and beyond without luck. This is the first time an incident of such would happen in my community. It was even after it occurred that I was informed that a child was beheaded three days before this incident at Umudi community. “My work usually takes me away for a week or more. I had to rush back after spending three days because of this heart- rending news. My wife is still on admission owing to the deep machete cuts on her head. It is more disturbing because no one has called to demand for ransom for their release. Please, whoever is with my two-year and six months old Adanna and one year, six months old Kansimyochukwu , should have mercy on them and bring them back to us. We are not rich, we are barely managing to survive,” he said, calling on the Police to come to their rescue. Police arrest some suspects Meanwhile, Crime Guard gathered that policemen had arrested owner of a local drinking joint where Tochukwu stopped to buy recharge card. In the process, a conversation ensued between him and some villagers who were unwinding at the joint, at the end of which he was said to have disclosed who he came to visit. It was gathered that the owner of the place and his wife were later released . As at yesterday, Police sources hinted that investigation into the matter was still ongoing. Source: Vanguard.

German Envoy Urges Nigeria To Diversify Economy, Visits Anglican Church

The German Consular-General in Lagos, Ingo Herbert, has urged the Nigerian government to diversify the country’s economy, as well as create industries that would generate employment for its teeming population. Herbert gave this charge during his visit to Most Rev. (Dr) E. Adebola Ademowo, Diocesan Bishop of Lagos and Dean Emeritus, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) recently in Lagos. He advised the present administration not to be over-dependent on oil alone, but to also build industries and produce commodities for export in the world market. He claimed that there was German business interest in Nigeria, adding that despite the current situation in the country, Nigeria was an important market on the African continent. Speaking on the trade relations between Nigeria and Germany, he said the trade balance in import of gas which is normally in favour of Nigeria was on the decrease because of the difficult situation in the country, adding that there was room for improvement which was one of his tasks in the country. “Despite all the difficult times at the moment in the Nigerian economy, there is a new interest in the German business community; a sort of come-back to rediscover, see the opportunities in the African continent. I am quite confident that during my tenure here, I will meet with partners in Germany to increase the business presence here in Nigeria”, he said. On his visit to the church, he said considering the role of the Anglican Church in Nigeria, it made it necessary for him to visit and learn more about the church. He added that church and religion are important factors in society as the church does a lot of social work in the society. He also noted that it was important for him to study the culture and norms and understand the people as his role was not only to represent Germany in Nigeria, but also to become an expert on Nigeria and explain what it meant and how to do business in Nigeria. “Each country is different even in Europe, so, it is important to know the structure of the society, its people and explain to Germans because one of my roles is to promote Nigeria in my country. We want to bring the two countries closer to each other in business and other beneficial areas”, he said. While commending the Consular-General for his visit to the church, Ademowo revealed that the Anglican Church in Nigeria had intensified Bible teachings and introduced innovations to help keep members in the church without losing their Anglican identity. “We are celebrating the Anglican Church because Pentecostalism and Anglicanism are intertwined and are inseparable”, he said. He commended the former governor of Lagos, Senator Ahmed Tinubu, for returning missionary schools to the respective Christian denominations, adding that the church was not relenting in its efforts to ensure it had Christian schools which Christian children would be privileged to attend. “We are not relenting at all and we are fulfilling our role as leaders in the church from time to time”, he reiterated. Speaking on the economic problems in the country, Ademowo said: “Everyone in this country knows that things are pretty tough. We are passing through a trying period; people are suffering and it is not easy. We are not going to confess negatively because we know that beyond the tunnel, there is light; there is hope. The way the President is talking, I think he wants to fix the economy. It may be tough at the moment, but I know we will overcome at the end of the day.”

Church Leader Haps On Good Family Values

First Counsellor in the Stake Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Egbeda, Lagos Nigeria Stake, John Okah has urged Nigerian families to make Christ the head and foundation of their home, so that peace and happiness would abound in the nation. Okah gave this charge at the first annual semi-conference of the stake tagged “And now, remember that it is upon the rock of our redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall", held recently in Lagos. Okah also said that members of Egbeda Stake should emphasize on how to strengthen the family and make it a better place to be. "For us in this stake, the emphasis is on the family, how we can strengthen the family and make it a better place for all to be. We focus on family because if you have a stable family, you will also have a stable society, good economy and things will generally run well. A family that is built on the foundation of Christ will not have problems, and that is why the conference is very important and beneficial to our members and the entire society", he said. He claimed that the church propagated the family due to its belief that every family supposed to be together both on earth and eternity. "In this church, we have family councils where parents and children come together to discuss family issues. We need to always come together in what we call family council to discuss family issues, and it is when we refuse to do so, that we normally have issues. So, in the church, we have strong family values and we place emphasis on that", he claimed. The counsellor revealed that though the church was English-oriented, it still set up a literacy class to train baptized members of the church who did not have knowledge of English Language. "At the literacy class, people are taught the gospel of Jesus Christ at their own level. Today, we have testimonies of men and women who could neither read or write, but became literate and can now interpret the messages in the Bible, Book of Mormon and other books we have in the church, after passing through the training in the church’s literacy class. That is an avenue for the church to help those in that category", he said. Another leader in the Church, President Solomon Aliche said the church had an active translating group whose job was to translate the Bible and the books in the church to Igbo and other major languages to assist those who could not read. Aliche who was recently drafted to head one of the church branches in Owerri, Imo State also spoke on the issue of the sabbath which he claimed should not be toyed with. He added that the recommended day for sabbath is Sunday, the first day of the week. "We worship on the Lord's day which is Sunday, the first day of the week. It is the day recommended by prophets of the church for worship and we do not joke with it. As a result, we do not work, buy or sell on Sundays. We only devote the day to worship God and rest with our families. Naturally, we need rest to avoid breaking down. The problem we are having today is that some of the values are not being taught at homes. So, that is why we need time to relax with our families to discuss some family values, in the interest of the society. It is only in emergency situations that we can go against the law and not for pleasure", he claimed. Aliche further stated that God frowned at those who violated the law of Sabbath, and that any nation that did not observe the Sabbath day was bound to have calamity. He urged members of the church to remember their God, as well as serve Him with their minds and love their neighbours as themselves. Also speaking on the occasion, President Emilia Ahadjie charged the congregation to live a Christ-like lifes and ensure that they lived exemplary lives as followers of Jesus Christ. The conference which attracted guests from far and near also saw the presence of members of the six wards that make up the Stake namely; Ayobo, Egbeda, Ejigbo, Igando, Ikotun and Shasha. It also featured songs, praises, testimonies and words of exhortation. There was also priesthood leadership session, relief society session and combined adult session.

Ernest Asuzu , Former Sactor Plagued By Health Issues

In the mid 90’s Nollywood actor Ernest Asuzu belonged to the generation of hunks
coming up in the movie scene. Ernest Asuzu with the likes of the late J.T Tom West, Ramsey Nouah Jr, Pat Attah, Saint Obi, Charles Okafor and others dominated the home video industry and established themselves as the heartthrobs of Nollywood. Asuzu who was known for his bad boy roles was a star in his prime. Coupled with a passion for Hip-Hop music the actor quickly established himself as one of the bankable names in the then growing Nollywood business. Unique in his own way, Ernest Asuzu further stood out from his peers when he got into a power couple relationship with former actress Obot Etuk. Back then there weren't many actors who opened up that they were dating each other so Ernest Asuzu was a rarity in the industry. Bad boy, lover boy, with a hot actress by his side Ernest Asuzu was at the peak of his career from the late 90’s to the mid 2000’s. The hot actor’s career took a turn for the worse when rumours sprung up that he had gone mad. From what started as a rumour it later flipped into several news stories of Ernest Asuzu acting irrationally in public. Before you could blink an eye the gist around town was “Ernest Asuzu has gone mad!” In 2005, it was reported that the movie star had been locked up for allegedly destroying items worth N433,000 in a barbing salon at 94, Ago Palace way, Okota. Stories like this popped up frequently and Asuzu’s presence in movies had started to diminish. Till today no one can authoritatively claim what led to the alleged breakdown of Ernest Asuzu’s mental state of mind but the actor himself has claimed that his former lover was the cause of his issues. In a 2015 interview with Yes Int’l Ernest Asuzu had this to say about Obot Etuk. “Truth about that is that Obot came into my life to destroy me” he said when asked if Obot Etuk was behind his present travails. Also in the same interview Ernest Asuzu’s wife Jennifer Asuzuclearly stated that her husband has no mental health issues. “It’s his enemies that are mad, not my husband” she said. Despite his wife’s claim the rather strong rumours persist. Three months before that interview it was reported that Ernest Asuzu was seen begging for money in Surulere. Whoever or whatever is behind Ernest Asuzu’s misfortunes hasn’t stopped. In April 2016 it was reported that he had passed away. The actor was quick to dismiss these claims via a post on his Facebook account. “My name is ernest chidozie azuzu pls am not dead for the people carrying rumours that my enemyis dead i just wish t5hem long life but this has proven what god said that people like me will not die because GOD is the maker of life” he wrote. Presently Ernest Asuzu is recovering from a stroke but is in high spirits. He said he is working on a number of new songs as well as preparing for a comeback to the movie industry. Let’s hope he can get back on his feet.

COSON Prays For Final Judgment Against MTN In Its Copyright Suit

Holding onto its recent promise of an unprecedented show down with copyright infringers and royalty defaulters in Nigeria, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation’s approved collective management organization for musical works and sound recordings, has filed a motion for final judgment in the watershed 16 Billion Naira
copyright infringement action brought by COSON against telecommunication giant, MTN. In a motion filed on June 20, 2016 at the Federal High Court Lagos by foremost Intellectual Property lawyer, Mr. Justin Ige, COSON has asked the court for an order for final judgment in favour of COSON for the liquidated sum as per claim (g) contained in the writ of summons and statement of claim, in default of pleadings by MTN. COSON also asked for such further or other orders as the Court may deem fit to make in the circumstances of the case. In COSON’s 8 paragraph affidavit in support of the motion for judgment sworn to by one Jubilee Wakeel, Mr. Wakeel deposed to the facts that the suit was commenced by writ of summons on 9th May, 2016 and that MTN was served on 10th May, 2016 and that well over 30 days since MTN was served with all the processes in the suit, the Defendant had failed refused and/or neglected to take steps to file any pleadings in defence of the action. Quoting copiously from the Federal High Court rules and a plethora of decided cases, Mr. Ige, lawyer to COSON in his written statement in support of the motion stated that as disclosed in the supporting affidavit to the application, no defense had been filed in the matter. He went on to state that the Plaintiff is convinced that the Defendant has no defence to the claim and all the averments in the Claim should be deemed undisputed by the defendant. While urging the court to grant the motion in the interest of justice, Mr. Ige stated that COSON is seeking judgment for royalties which the Defendant hopes to hold on to, if possible, forever – during which time those persons whom the royalties ought to be distributed to will continue to suffer needlessly. He stated that by granting the application, the court can put an end to the pain of the copyright owners without further delay. It will be recalled that in the suit No. FHC/L/CS/619/2016, the biggest copyright law suit ever in the continent of Africa, there are 18 separate claims endorsed on the writ supported by a 43 paragraph Statement of Claim. COSON has also asked the court for six different declarations of copyright infringement allegedly perpetrated by MTN in the MTN Friendship’, ‘Connect’ or ‘Walk In’ Centres across Nigeria; the MTN ‘Road Shows’ in Nigeria; the various MTN Music Concerts, Festivals, Award Shows, Product Activations and Corporate events; the MTN Callertunez platform; the MTN Music Plus platform and the MTN Mobile Radio. Speaking recently on the NTA programme, “Slow Flow” on the determination of COSON to stamp out copyright infringement in Nigeria, COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji said, “At COSON, we are determined, committed and resolved to stamping out the era of “monkey dey work, baboon dey chop” from the Nigerian music industry and establishing a transparent and accountable industry in which everyone who invests his or her talent or resources can rest assured that his or her investment will be fully protected. We will not buckle under pressure from anyone no matter how highly placed. We have sued a corporation owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria. We have gone to court against a State government. We have had to sue Nigeria’s biggest bank, wrestle in court with Nigeria’s biggest hotel and broadcast networks. At COSON, we verily believe that no one is above the law”.

PDP Senators Pass Vote Of No Confidence On Buhari Over Forgery Case

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senators yesterday passed vote of no confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari over the planned arraignment of the Senate president Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, over alleged forgery of the Standing Rules 2015 of the upper legislative chamber. The opposition lawmakers vowed to
henceforth cease further cooperation with the president on every communication to the Senate until he and his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, “cease the belligerent attitude towards PDP members.” In a communiqué issued and made available to journalists in Abuja yesterday, they explained that their decision was predicated on “unwarranted threats to the legislative arm of government, particularly to the Senate leadership by the executive arm, as well as the on-going intimidation and persecution of the PDP by the ruling APC.” The lawmakers under the aegis of PDP Senate Caucus in the communiqué accused President Buhari of persecuting their party members in the guise of fighting corruption while turning deaf ears on his party members who have corruption allegations hanging on their necks. The communiqué read by the deputy Senate minority leader, Emmanuel Bwacha, who was accompanied by over 30 PDP senators, including the deputy Senate president, at the press conference, said the president’s actions through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had become worrisome to well meaning Nigerians over the safety of democracy in the country. While frowning at the freezing of personal account of Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, by the anti-graft agency allegedly on the order of the president, the senators challenged Buhari to extend probe of campaign funds beyond the PDP controlled states. The communiqué read: “We, the PDP senators, met in our caucus meeting yesterday, 21st June, 2016, and deliberated on the state of the nation, and to examine our position on unwarranted threats to the legislative arm of government, particularly to the Senate leadership by the executive arm, as well as the on-going intimidation/persecution of the opposition party (PDP) by the ruling party (APC). “Arising from the forgoing, the caucus passed resolutions condemning in totality the orchestrated plot to remove the president of the Senate and his deputy through an illegal means. “The deployment of state instruments of coercion to intimidate an independent arm of government like the legislature is now a major threat to the survival of our democracy. “The glaring witch-hunt of perceived opposition elements in the polity is invitation to anarchy. The war against corruption should not be selective, must be fought with sincerity and not the politics that is being played now with ‘war against corruption.’ We therefore condemn in strong terms the sentiments displayed in fighting corruption, e.g. freezing of account of the Ekiti State governor is clearly a political witch-hunt. “Since the war against corruption has devolved into probing campaign funds, it should be extended to all parties, APC inclusive. The PDP Senate Caucus therefore wishes to warn the executive arm of government to act with caution on matters that have the potency to subvert our democracy. The executive must therefore desist from these acts of lawlessness that are only typical in a military dictatorship. “The caucus therefore wishes to advise the APC-led government to concentrate on the existing economic and security challenges that are threatening our survival as a nation. “Finally, the PDP Caucus wishes to reiterate that we will no longer support the APC government until they cease the belligerent attitude towards PDP members.” The resolution was signed by the Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, and the deputy Senate minority leader, Emmanuel Bwacha. Others are Senate minority whip, Phillip Aduda and his deputy, Biodun Olujimi

Nigerian Mortality Rate Still At 576 Deaths Per 1,000 Pregnant Women

Nigeria's maternal mortality rate has been rated to remain still at 576 deaths per 1,000 pregnant women. This is the position of reproductive health experts and advocacy groups. They also raised concerns that most state governments in the country do not have funds budgeted to advance family planning in their states. The Coordinator of the Reproductive and Family Planning arm of Pathfinder International Nigeria, Dr. Habeeb Salami, stated on Wednesday in Abuja that although the federal government procures and distributes 13 family planning commodities to the states to reduce maternal mortality rate, less than 10 per cent of the 36 states complement this effort with funds to distribute the commodities. He said this on the side-lines of a stakeholders meeting on advocacy for family planning in the wake of current economic and demographic challenges of the country. Salami noted that in 2012, the United Nations Committee on Women and Children identified 13 commodities which it said can save lives if readily available in Nigeria. According to him, three of such commodities remained key to proactive family planning and they are: emergency contraceptive; implant and the female condom which the Civil Society for Family Planning (CSFP), Pathfinder and the Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) are promoting their use. Salami said although many states apart from Lagos have lean budget for health, the present economic predicament in most states has worsened the prospects of funding for family planning. "If I am to assess all the states, I will say less than 10 per cent of them in this country are the ones working hard on family planning, the rest are not," he said. Source: ThisDay.

Amaechi States Economic Essence Of Rail Transportation

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, has said that an overhaul of the rail transportation system is crucial for successful diversification of the nation’s economy and increased earnings from non-oil investments.
Amaechi made this known at a one-day Agri-produce and Solid Minerals Rail conference held in Abuja to highlight the role of rail transport in guaranteeing food security and diversification of the economy. According to him, the rail system supported the Nigerian economy in the mid-70s to harness solid minerals such as coal, iron ore, granite, limestone, tin, kaolin, uranium, among others, These includes agricultural produce like groundnuts and cocoa which were used to sustain the economy. Amaechi who was represented by the ministry’s Director of Rail, Mr. Mohammed Babakobi, stated that Nigeria’s rail sector began to suffer collapse from 1972 when the mining sector was privatised, leading to massive disinvestment in the sector. He further stressed that shift from agriculture to newly-found oil and gas business led to eventual setback of the nation’s rail system of transportation, adding that by 1984, the railway system had been grounded to a halt. He said that it was in 2002 that the Federal Government began processes to revive the sector. Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers Council, Hassan Bello said rail transportation is key to economic growth of any nation, saying that Nigeria cannot be an exception. He said that revamp of the rail system and construction of new ones would create room for healthy competition among the various seaports, even as the six dry-ports will come into active use all year round. Meanwhile, representative of Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF), Vidhi Mohan, a DFID-funded infrastructure consulting organisation, said over-dependence on government for funding of rail sector and other modes of transport is a best practice, saying that concessions should be made to encourage private sector handling and operation of the rail system for optimal capacity.

Udom Emmanuel Commends FG Over Bail-Out Initiative

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has described the Buhari
administration’s N90 billion budget support loan to states as a positive development in view of current economic challenges arising from the fall in global oil prices. The Governor made the remark on Tuesday while speaking to correspondents at Government House in Uyo, the State capital. Describing the development as a sound economic policy, Governor Emmanuel, who is a financial expert praised the Federal Government for providing such important lifeline, which he said would help states to fund their development programs. He explained that the loan is not a bailout for the payment of salaries or pensions but a financial lifeline to support states fund their development projects as contained in their budget. He added that states were at liberty to accept or decline the offer as it was not compulsory. The Governor said his administration was yet to take a decision on whether Akwa Ibom State will take the loan. The fall in oil prices has caused a sharp decline in Nigeria’s revenue. This has in turn affected the monthly financial allocation to States from the Federation Account. The federal government had announced that it will grant a 90 billion Naira loan to the 36 states of the federation. The loan, according to the federal government, will cover a period of one year. However, the loan will be extended to the state governments after they meet 22 stringent conditions put together by the federal government under the fiscal sustainability plan.

Charly Boy Slams Nigerian Christians On Their Attitude To Massacre Of Gay People In Orlando Night Club

Eccentric media personality, Charly Boy took to his Facebook page yesterday, June 20, 2016 to slam 'overtly' religious Nigerians who were unsympathetic about the massacre of innocent people in a gay night club in Orlando, Florida.
According to the Area Fada, Nigerians were quick to quote the scripture when a gunman opened fire at a gay club but failed to do so when Christians lost their lives in terrorist attacks in the North. He wrote; "Na WA for some Naijas, can you believe that after about 50 people were murdered in cold blood at a gay club in Orlando, most Nigerian Christians who know the mind of God linked the incident to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Can you imagine? They quickly used Leviticus 20:13 to prove their points. Many even said if God doesnt destroy America, he owes sodom and Gomorrah an apology. Humm They wished more of it would happen, they even said that it was God's judgement upon gays. Useless fake people. Now hear me out! So, were the people in those bombed churches in Kaduna evil? The Christians who were bombed by Boko haram in the Redeemed church in Jigawa, did they deserve it? The christian in Borno state that were set ablaze, did they deserve to die like that? Where was God last year when those followers of Christ got shot up in a black church in America while praying? Since God has become your informant and you know his JUDGEMENT, I am waiting for your answer. Some of these Naija Christians just make a mockery of Christianity while claiming to know the will of God. When an attack is carried out by demons and people who are mentally challenged some predict it was God's will, because the victims have a different sexual orientation than us. Why can't you just say, thank God they are dead. Silly, idiots. To add ignorance to stupidity you quote the scriptures to rationalise your uninformed position. Anyways, most of us don't know any better. The joke is on them. Nonesense. I don talk my own. Make Oluwa scatter us with blessing this new week. Una well done."

Sydney Over-taken By Alcohol-fuelled violence As police Boost CBD Presence Fol,lowing Weekend Attacks

RAW: Vision has emerged of police officers responding to a brawl in Sydney's CBD on Saturday night. Police will boost their numbers and increase their visibility across Sydney's CBD to combat anti-social behaviour after a weekend of alcohol-fuelled violence in the city. Officers were kept busy during a weekend that featured numerous violent incidents, including a mass brawl involving 30 people.
Police initially said the incident involved 200 people as it broke out in a laneway near the Metro Theatre concert venue and then spread down George and Pitt streets, about 3am on Sunday. An investigation has begun into what sparked the fight with one nearby resident saying he woke to screaming and shouting, and from his balcony filmed as a woman knocked another to the ground. Advertisement The brawls, he said, lasted for at least half an hour and police were moving between different locations trying to break up separate fights. "There was a bunch of smaller skirmishes. It looked like there was a lot of people around and I think there were a lot of people fighting in a lot of different places," the man said. Acting Inspector Steve Hodges said police thought the fights were connected, but it was not known if those involved had left the concert venue or had just gathered in the area. After responding to "dozens" of alcohol-related violent incidents in Sydney, Assistant Commissioner Mick Fuller warned that drunken behaviour would not be tolerated and urged people to take responsibility for their behaviour. "We could have avoided almost all of these incidents if people used better judgement and drank responsibly," Mr Fuller said. "[T]here are still people who cannot exercise restraint when drinking and have either injured themselves or harmed others." In an incident on Friday night, two men were charged after a group of women were assaulted during a hen's night celebration. "Everyone has the right to go out in Sydney at night, have a good time and not be accosted by drunks," Mr Fuller said. "We want to see people out having fun, but we are extremely concerned by the level of intoxication we are seeing in some people every night. "It's time to start taking responsibility for your actions. Know your limits – drink sensibly, plan ahead and think about others," he said. As an extra measure, police also promised to clamp down on licensed premises to ensure they are compliant with the Liquor Act. The spate of weekend violence brings Sydney's controversial lockout laws into focus. On Friday, Alan Jones blasted NSW Premier Mike Baird for ignoring recent protests about the laws which critics say are shutting down the city. But crime statistics appear to show the lockout laws have resulted in fewer instances of violent crime. In February, Mr Baird launched a passionate defence of his signature policy which he said had made Sydney "safer and more vibrant than ever".

FG Will Not Force States To Provide Grazing Land, Says Audu Ogbe

As the controversy surrounding the demarcation of grazing ground for Fulani Cattle rearers in the states by the Federal Government ranges on, the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh Monday threw more Light on the controversy. The Minister on a working visit to Adamawa State told Newsmen at the Palace of the Lamido Adamawa after a courtesy call that the Federal Government has now shelved the issue of grazing fields and has opted for ranches. According to Ogbeh those states that do not want grazing fields will not be forced, but was quick to ask “why do people do this as if they do not eat meat?” He pointed out that the Federal Government wants to develop ranches so that herdsmen can keep their cattle and where they can’t be well fed. The Minister stressed that they are asking people to willingly allow them develop paddocks so that Fulani’s can water their cattle. Speaking further, he noted that the business is to see that the Fulanis will stop their nomadic lives. “The business of government is to find equitable solution to the problem as such the government will not force any state to provide grazing land”, he declared Nobody he said, was supposed to carry weapon nor kill anybody and so the only way to do it is to develop ranches. He wondered why a country with 45 million hectres of land can’t accommodate 20 million cows. Audu Ogbeh advised Nigerians not to see religion and ethnicity in every aspect of life moreso that the Fulani man who moves around does not value his life because his cattle are not fed.
