M.I Wants Collaborations With Hugh Maskela, Salif Keita

In vogue in the music industry presently is for the latter day acts to strive to collaborate with their older counterparts. That may the reason rapper, Bottom of Form
M.I Abaga has expressed the desire to collaborate with a number of legendary African artistes including Hugh Maskela, Youssou N’Dour, Salif Keita and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Not too long ago Tu-Face Idibia did a duet with legendary highlife great, Victor Olaiya on the latter’s hit Baby Jowo.
Now the Chocolate City rapper is telling anybody who cares to listen while responding to questions at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards announcement event at Cova Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos that he would love to work with any of and or all of the old greats on a musical project.
The rapper further revealed that such collaborations are part of his ambition to connect the young African audience to the older generation of African musicians.
Said he: “I think we have done great in terms of creating a vibrant modern African music scene and the young audience really connects with that, but it would really be great to be able to connect the young audience with the older generation of African musicians.
“Africa has such a rich musical history and it would be a shame to lose part of that history. My next ambition is to connect the younger audience with this older generation of African musicians.”
The 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards will take place in Durban, KwaZulu Natal in South Africa on July 18, 2015.
