Shrugging off from some life-threatening hitches that came
its way a few yaers back,
the organisers of Kora Awards are fully back on the block
with the resolve in the 2015 edition to reward winners with a whopping
$1,800,000.
This is contained in
the plans they rolled out for the events for this year which
indicates that they have upped the ante by rewarding various category and genre
winners with a sum of $25000 and $50,000 dependent on the category.
In a statement from the awards' ceremony secretariat, “The KORA Awards have been unwavering in our
commitment to rewarding and celebrating excellence in African music.”
Speaking on this year's edition, the founder and Executive
Producer, Ernest Coovi Adjovi,
said, 'From the beginning, we have
been clear on this goal. We are delighted to be back home in Namibia, and look
forward to delivering an extravaganza that the entire world will tune in to
watch. We have little doubt that the powerful partnerships we have forged
will help us realise an awards ceremony to remember!’'
Scheduled to hold December 13, 2015 at the Legacy Hotel and
Resort’s Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino in Namibia, the event will be
preceded by a fashion show on December 11, 2015 and will feature six
accomplished designers from across the continent.
