Uzo Chikere
The chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Chief Tony Okoroji has sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Mr. Kojo Antwi.
AMRO is Ghana’s only government approved copyright collective management organization for music. Like COSON in Nigeria, GHAMRO is responsible for the collection and distribution of royalties for the public and commercial use of music in Ghana.
Chief Okoroji who witnessed the election of Kojo Antwi and other members of the new Management Board of GHAMRO in Accra on February 11, 2015 said, “I have made many trips to Ghana during the period that GHAMRO had its challenges. There are many who were sure that GHAMRO will not survive its challenges. I am happy to have been given a chance in resolving the dispute in GHAMRO. I am truly very happy to witness the rebirth of GHAMRO. The stage is now set for COSON and GHAMRO to work together for the benefit of creativity in our sub region.”
Chief Okoroji who is back in Nigeria following the elections was in Accra as a representative of the international copyright community.
