Traditional Ruler Accuses Suspected Herdsmen Of Killing Farmers

The traditional ruler of Okpanam kingdom, Oshimile North Local Council of Delta State, Michael Mbanefo, has alleged that suspected Fulani herdsmen have been killing his people in their farmlands.

“I have written to the police and President Mohammed Buhari to come to our aid, so that our men and women can go to their farm freely without being attacked,” he said.

Also speaking on the illegal land acquisition in the community, he said those who acquired lands illegally would forfeit them as a committee saddled with the responsibility to look into the issues, would act on the mandate to ensure the “lands are recovered from usurpers, unless the lands were genuinely acquired.”

He added that lands in Okpanam have turned out to be a curse rather than blessing for the people who suffer in the hands of suspected hoodlums that sell people’s land for financial gains.”
In another development, following the recent killing of two brothers, Akpovona Felix and Akpupu Sunday, by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Urhuoka community, Abraka, the President-General of Urhuoka Development Association (UDA), Mr. Freeborn Ukrakpor, has resigned his position as President-General.

In a letter dated January 7, 2017, and titled “Letter of Resignation” addressed to the Ovie of Oruarivie, Abraka kingdom, Akomeyoma Majoroh, Freeborn said: “I write to announce my resignation from the position of President-General Urhuoka Development Association (UDA).

“After due consideration of the trend of events in Urhuoka community over the period of my being in office, my entire family and I are convinced that as president-general, I will always be far away from the peaceful life I retired home to live.

“It is unimaginable that the people of Urhuoka community would neglect the Fulani herdsmen that killed our people, and direct their retaliation at me, for being the president-general. The disturbances of Fulani herdsmen have long been before I returned home from the city on retirement.”

He stated that as a community leader, he could tolerate constructive criticism from his community, but would not tolerate any blackmail relating to Fulani herdsmen operations, and for that reason, “I hereby step down from UDA as President-General with immediate effect.”

In the mean time, a new acting president-general has been appointed to manage the office until a new president-general is elected. John Avwenaghegha will act for the next two months pending when a new president-general is elected.

Meanwhile, the Partner for Peace in the Niger Delta, Delta State chapter, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to launch an intensive campaign, aimed at mopping up illegally acquired arms in the country, especially in the Northern states and communities where Fulani herdsmen are terrorising people in the South-South region.

The coordinator, Kenneth Atsenuwa, also urged the president to create time to visit Southern Kaduna, saying, such a step will boost trust in his government.

School Certificate Holder As Employed As Medical Officer In Kogi

There was a mild drama at the venue of the Kogi State Staff Screening Appeal on Monday when Imo State-born Alalonu Vivian Chinyere Salawu, confessed how one-time Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Philip Salawu, approved her appointment as Medical Officer on Grade Level 13 Step 6 despite having only a Secondary School Certificate with four credits. She hails from Imo State.

She was however unlucky as the eagle eyes of members of the Screening Appeal Committee caught up with her.

The culprit was immediately referred to the Quality Assurance Team of the quality for further interrogation. It was before the team that the cat was let out of the bag.

She said: “The former Deputy Governor (of Kogi State), Dr Philip Salawu, directed his Personal Assistant to write the application on my behalf and I was asked to sign. Salawu immediately recommended me for employment as Medical Officer, a directive which was immediately carried out by the Permanent Secretary.

“I was taking the salary to the wife of the former Deputy Governor through her Personal Assistant while they gave me only N15,000 every month. When they were about to leave government, Salawu quickly directed that I should be converted to a Clerical Officer and I was posted out of his office to the Office of the Head of Service.”

Vivian claimed to be married to the younger brother of Grace Salawu, wife of the former Deputy Governor.

Speaking with journalists at the Screening Appeal Centre, Kingsley Fanwo, a member of the Committee and the Director-General (Media and Publicity) to Governor Yahaya Bello, said the screening exercise has been quite revealing.

He said, “We need to applaud the previous committee for doing a great job. The screening exercise was aimed at saving the Kogi State civil service from imminent collapse and to save the lives of the people. Imagine a secondary school certificate holder employed as Medical Officer. They almost killed this state. For her to come to appeal shows the audacity of fraud.

“These are the people castigating government without telling the world the fraud they have been perpetrating. Governor Yahaya Bello is poised to ensure his reforms in the civil service sails through."

The Kogi State government had decided to give affected workers a window of justice to ventilate their complaints and receive fair hearing.

Cases of certificate forgery, age alteration and unexplained cash inflow into civil servants' accounts have been discovered at the centre.

A complainant, who gave birth at the centre on Saturday January 28 2017 was given a N1 million gift by the governor to take care of her child.

When the Governor announced the donation at the centre and handed over the cash to the beneficiary, the jubilant crowd raised voices of encomium on the Governor for his compassion and goodwill.

Naira Reverses Loss After Its Drop To 500/Dollar

The naira dropped against the United States dollar from 498 to 500 at the parallel market during the early trading hours on Monday, crossing the critical threshold currency analysts had predicted.

According to The Punch, foreign exchange traders linked the development to relative scarcity of the greenback in the forex market.

The local unit, however, reversed the loss during the intra-day trading and closed at 498/dollar.

The naira has been under persistent pressure as scarcity of the greenback continues to hit the market.

At the official market, the local unit closed at 305/dollar, the level it has traded at since August last year.

Meanwhile, the naira is expected to remain at 498/dollar at the parallel market as the Central
Bank of Nigeria continues sales of the greenback to Bureau De Change operators.

The CBN had two weeks ago commenced sales of dollars to the BDC operators through Travelex, following a three-week break during the Yuletide season.

On Friday, the naira closed at 498/dollar at the black market, broadly unchanged from 497/dollar it recorded the previous weekend.

“Confidence is gradually returning to the forex market as a result of improved foreign exchange reserves, dollar sales by international money transfer agents and the central bank assurance it will continue to support the local currency,” one trader told Reuters.

Last Tuesday, the CBN said it would continue to provide hard currency, with priority given to manufacturing industries that need to import raw materials and spare parts.

Economic and financial analysts are slightly divided over the outlook for the naira this year.

Economic expert and Chief Executive Officer of Cocosheen Nigeria Limited, Mr. Henry Boyo, said the naira might crash to almost 1000/dollar at the parallel market this year if the CBN failed to review its monetary policy framework.

According to him, the policy framework is skewed against the local unit and it will be difficult for the naira to remain at the current rate.

A Nigeria-based investment bank and research advisory firm, Afrinvest West Africa Limited, predicted last Tuesday that the official exchange rate of the naira would tumble by about 31 per cent to 400/dollar before the end of this year.

In its 2017 economic outlook, the firm said the CBN might be forced by possible developments in the currency market to devalue the naira from the current 305/dollar to around 400/dollar.

“If you think about the monetary policy environment, we think that the CBN will be forced by the market to make a change. Currently, the naira is pegged at 305/dollar; we see it moving towards 400/dollar by the end of the year,” the Group Managing Director, Afrinvest, Mr. Ike Chioke, said at a press conference announcing the firm’s economic outlook.

Chioke stressed the need for key reforms in the currency market, petroleum downstream sector, power and other key sectors of the economy in order to put the ailing economy on the path of growth.

“If the CBN did take a plunge to make it really market-driven, we can see that even the 400/dollar rate may appreciate later on, bringing to something below 400/dollar,” the expert said.

Curt Trial Of Ayilaran, MCSN To Begin March 28

The presiding judge at a Federal High Court in Lagos, Mrs. Olateregun-Ishola has adjourned the criminal trials of Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN), its CEO, Mr. Mayo Ayilaran and six other officers of the society accused of operating an illegal copyright collecting society, to March 28 and 29, 2017. The trials in three separate cases slated for Monday, January 30, 2017 were rescheduled following the failure of the prison authorities to bring to court, one of the accused MCSN staff, Miss Gladys Njoku who has been remanded in prison custody for several months on the orders of the court. Miss Njoku has remained in prison as a result of her inability to perfect her bail conditions.

Apart from Miss Njoku, in the dock were all the other accused persons including MCSN’s CEO, Mr. Mayo Ayilaran who was able to meet his bail conditions after more than a week of his remand in prison custody and so secured his release. So, did his deputy, Mr. Louis Bassey Udoh and two other officers of the organization, Miss Omolari Banjo and Mr. Yusuf Benson. Unfortunately, no conclusive attempt was made to secure the release of three other officers of MCSN, Mr Halim Mohammed, Ms Gladys Njoku and Mr. Olukayode Ajayi who have remained in prison custody since October 26, 2016 when they were granted bail by the court.

When the case was called on Monday, January 30, Defence counsel Mr. Wale Adesokan SAN sought to move an application for an order directing the Nigerian Copyright Commission to release the equipment, files, documents and all materials seized from the MCSN office during an NCC raid in 2012, in accordance with the earlier judgment of Justice Mohammed Yunusa delivered on March 18, 2013. According to Mr. Adesokan, the materials were required by the defendants for their defence. Mr. Obi Ezeilo leading the prosecution team which included Mrs. Linda Durugo, Mrs Linda Alpheus and Mrs. Chioma Ihedioha  objected saying that the Judgement of Justice Mohammed Yunusa had been completely set aside by the Court of Appeal in its unanimous judgment of October 19, 2016; therefore the application could not stand. Mr. Adesokan who expressed ignorance of the Court of Appeal judgment was handed a copy by Mr. Ezeilo. Upon seeing the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Mr. Adesokan withdrew his application which was then struck out by the court.

The Nigerian Copyright Commission had in FHC/IKJ/CR/18/2012, FHC/IKJ/CR/19/2012 and FHC/IKJ/CR/20/2012 brought three different cases against Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN) and seven of its accused officers for performing the duties of a collecting society without the approval of the Commission.

In court to witness the proceedings was Chief Tony Okoroji, Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) the only approved copyright collective management organization in the Nigerian music industry.

That Old Cheat Not Better Second-time Around

Is it true that someone can love you so wrong that you find yourself wishing to go back to some of your worst former lovers?

I was catching up with a friend over the festive season when we went over the important M-word, which is money.

We both quickly decided to move on to the next M-item on the agenda, that is men, when we realised that we were technically broke, save for our credit cards giving us a false sense of security, and thus did not have much to elaborate on when it came to money.

And so we tackled men!

This year, my friend decided to place the men issue as her most important resolution.

I was fascinated, though, by her wistful reminiscing of her previous lover as she was busy telling me why she had decided to throw in the towel on a four-year relationship because the man she had been seeing was emotionally vacant and unavailable.

"Ben has frozen me out of the most important aspects of his life for far too long chomi. I'm tired, I deserve so much more. Ke mo tlhadile [I have dumped him].

"The other day I was busy sipping my glass of wine and found myself thinking about Thabo fondly," she said.

Now, both of us know that the reasons why she moved on from Thabo those years back were not only valid but absolutely necessary for her sanity and dignity.

Even though Thabo was loving and considerate, he was a lying cheat.

He was married and had strung her along for over two years, coming up with many excuses on why he was not filing for divorce from his wife.

After my friend realised that she was being taken for a ride, she finally reclaimed her dignity and cut him off, and I was proud of her.

But over festive season sundowners, all my friend could remember as she tried to compare her former lovers was how Thabo was such a loving, caring person and one of the best men she had dated.

Having been the spectator of this unfolding affair with all its dramas, my file on Thabo was littered with problems, and that is why she had to reclaim herself by letting him go as he was never hers to have.

On her side, however, after being starved of love, affection and attention by this emotionally deficient man she had been seeing, she has somehow erased the bad memories that had plagued her during her illicit affair with Thabo.

And this is where being a true friend requires that you tell the truth even when it hurts.

I had to remind her about all the sneaking around and how that used to reduce her to tears. I told her about that time when they had planned to celebrate her birthday and booked into a five-star hotel for the weekend in Mpumalanga only for Thabo's young daughter to accidentally drink petrol on the very Friday they had just checked into the hideaway in Hazyview.

His frantic wife legitimately called her husband, demanding that Thabo excuse himself from the alleged conference he had gone to so that they could both be at their daughter's bedside.

This happened before the couple could even christen the wide four-poster bed in that romantic hotel room whose windows overlooked a river. They had to quickly pack their bags and speedily check out so that Thabo could go and perform his fatherly duties.

She had told me how the silent trip back from Mpumalanga haunted her for months afterwards. And that was the last straw for her, besides having had to tolerate a lot of lies and sneaking around.

Today I had another tough love to give her by telling her that just because someone does not love you the way you need to be loved, it does not make the previous devil any less evil.

I am not sure if my sober analysis was well received though, what with her recently having reconnected with Thabo on Facebook and seemingly poised to flirt with the same danger again?

"It's all harmless chomi," she answered when I warned her about her actions. As we sipped away on our piƱa coladas, I saw a strange, faraway look on her face - I guess time will tell.

Curvy Woman Banned On YouTube For Her Chest, Butt Sizes

Gabriella Lascano
A famous plus-sized YouTuber has been censored by the video social media, after one of her posts was flagged for review, because it was too “s*xually explicit”.
Voluptuous Gabriella Lascano uploads fashion videos for her 60,000 followers on Instagram and her approximately 22,000 YouTube subscribers.

Lascano was nonetheless told by YouTube a video with her, flaunting her curves in a tight-fitting dress, was going to be placed behind an age restriction wall. "Your video...was flagged for review. Upon review, we've determined that it may not be suitable for all viewers and has been placed behind an age restriction," the channel's email said.

On the infamous post, the social media celebrity dances around, not only in the dress but also in a turtleneck. She is seen putting both her breasts and back close to the camera, as if to show off her voluminous contours.

Lascano has said she is offended by YouTube's decision. "It is my most watched video. I have been watching it grow and it's just been such a source of joy and such an accomplishment for me as well as helping me make money and just grow my social networks," she declared.

Gabriella believes that in no way her videos are “fetishized or pornographic or s*xually explicit”. She thinks her breast and butt XL-sizes had something to do with this decision. “I'm being punished for something that I can't control,” she complains.

Courtney Barnes says she developed her large behind after going for silicone injections when she was still a dancer at a club making extra pocket money during college. She decided on the injections because she admired her dancer colleagues who had undergone similar operations.

However, the results on her became much more pronounced than she had anticipated, and now her behind is a massive 150cm.

However, she cautions that these injections are unsafe and may have dangerous side effects. She says she regrets using them in the first place and no longer uses them.

Courtney expresses a wish that someday she will regain her natural behind because the attention it attracts can be overwhelming.

Not Wearing Undies Has Brought Me More Fame Than Music – Wanluv

Wanluv
Ghanaian musician Wanluv the Kubolor has disclosed his aversion to wearing underpants has made him more popular, particularly among his female fans, than his music ever has.

The Kokonsa hitmaker disclosed this to Bismark Boachie, also known as DJ Premier, on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM on Saturday January 28.

Asked why he appeared more popular than his music, Kubolor said: “Ghanaians are reserved. Most people are not outspoken so when we see someone very vocal and outspoken the person gives us inspiration. And I’m someone who is outspoken and speaks his mind so people like that thing about me.

“Apart from that too, I don’t wear underpants and that is why girls like me. Some girls want it (sex) fast so when they know you don’t wear underpants it means you won’t waste any time [taking your clothes off for sex],” he jested.

Wanluv Kubolor is arguably the most revolutionary artiste in Ghana, credited with creating a unique sound that pushes the borders of Afro-Pop.

As Apostle Johnson Suleiman Keeps A Date With DSS... Expectedly
Apostle Suleiman
, firery preacher and the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleiman, will today, Monday, January 30, 2017 keep his date with the Department of State Security in Abuja, the Nigeria's capital. What do we, the ordinary people, expect; will they gently quizz him and let him go; bully and detain him; turn him over to the police for prosecution (though his offence is yet to be known); detain him indefitely while their investigation continues? What, what what is to be expected?

Kogi InJubilation Over Monthly IGR New Range Of N1billion

Lokoja, capital of Kogi State, erupted in jubilation on Friday as Governor Yahaya Bello gave a graphic detail of how the state was able to raise its monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N400 million to N1billion within one year of his administration.

The jubilation was same in Kabba, Aiyetoro, Okene, Ankpa and all the Local Government Areas of the State.

The governor said when he came on board in January last year, his administration provided the initial impetus for the economy, by providing aggressive reforms to increase the IGR.

This, according to him, was achieved by making the State Board of Internal Revenue autonomous, relocating it to a better office accommodation and provide it with personnel, vehicles and other facilities.

Bello, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant (Print Media), Chief Adamu Adekwo, gave the figure in Lokoja, during the commemoration of his one year in office.

The governor observed that the feat wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of Kogites, members and leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially the Kogi State chapter.

"The APC stood behind this administration, durable and dependable like Mount Patti. I have always believed firmly that the state is able to adapt to the demands of Change. In the last one year in which I have had the privilege to serve as your Governor, you have reinforced that belief. Kogites proved to me, time and again, that we are capable of working together to unlock the stupendous potentials of this state for our collective benefit.

"The administration has been able to develop creative financial and social engineering practices designed to get the most mileage out of available financial resources. By a complex combination of cost-cutting, prioritisation and elimination of wastage, we have been able to stretch our purse to pay salaries, provide social services and execute the very visible infrastructural projects we have ongoing all over Kogi State.

"These are tough times for sure, but they are by no means impossible times. We will continue to confront them with courage and creativity. Our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base has grown from the average of N400 million monthly we met on assumption of office to an average of N1 billion monthly during the year under review.

"In December 2016, we achieved over N1.9bn in IGR collected due to a special receipt which comes in once a year. In 2017 we project that Internal Generated Revenue should add about N32bn to funding the year's Budget. Note that this sum of N32bn represents what Kogi State has generated in IGR over the last ten years. By the grace of God, we aim to generate it in 1 year.

"However, one must not imagine that this heavy growth in IGR was achieved by accident. We came into Office knowing that we must find new sources of funding if our New Direction Agenda must succeed. So, very early in our Administration, we kickstarted aggressive efforts to increase IGR by granting autonomy to the Kogi State Board of Internal Revenue. We moved her to better office accommodations and provided personnel, vehicles and other facilities for improved performance.

"The result is the growth which I have highlighted above. Despite what may appear like success to some people, the administration and the Board will not be resting on their oars. Our projection is for IGR to keep growing geometrically for the duration of the Administration. In preparation for the expected successes over the years ahead, we have built a modern multi-storey corporate headquarters for the Board from scratch. It will be commissioned by His Eminence, Alhaji Sa'adu Abubakar III, the 20th Sultan of Sokoto today".

The governor noted, however, that increase in IGR and funding generally would amount to nothing if there is unnecessary waste and expenditure was properly planed.

He continued: "To forestall this, we set up an Economic Team and a Fiscal Responsibility Committee to assist the Administration in the areas of investment processing and financial accountability respectively. The former will, in addition to her many other duties, engage prospective investors, scrutinizing their Proposals and selecting those that will add the greatest value to us. The later will, among other things, ensure that our operations at all levels of Government are undergirded by sound financial habits"

"Two cardinal principles of my modus operandi in Office is Equity and Merit. My New Direction Team reflects this. Equity to the geographical components of Kogi State and the merits of the individual continue to direct appointments into my Administration. Each appointee is chosen for merit and made in a way calculated to unite our people across the State.

"The result is that for the first time in Kogi's history, we have been able to foster participation in the highest echelons of Government by a team that proportionally represents our best in human resources and the strengths of all our constituencies".

Commenting on the staff verification exercise conducted recently in the state, Bello declared that the ruling APC will continue to demolish institutionalized errors and replace them with new and better ways of doing things in the state.

He said, "No doubt, my Administration has come to be known more for the lengthy Staff Screening and Verification Exercise than for anything else. It is true that this Exercise has disrupted the status quo on many levels and impacted harshly on some of our workers, but it has also ensured that for the first time in many years, the Kogi State Payroll is not bleeding scarce finances through servicing of ghost-workers and unintended beneficiaries.

"The Exercise has enabled the majority of workers so far cleared and processed for payment to experience, many for the very first time, what it means to end a year with salaries paid on time as we did in December 2016. Our intention is to make that the rule rather than the exception".

He tendered what he described as unreserved apologies to workers who had been cleared but could not be paid by last month, saying it was as a result of problems peculiar to the payroll for some MDAs or LGAs.

"We have since made tremendous progress in updating the system and I assure you that many more of our workers will be paid soon pointing out in that case, we want to help every worker who can be cleared to get cleared", the governor assured.

He listed about 21 projects for the year under review, saying they can be found in more detail in the Compendium which the state government had published and circulated to citizens as its scorecard.

The venue of the one year anniversary directly opposite the memorial cenotaph where the newly commissioned Revenue House is located attracted people from all walks of life who thronged the venue, making movement through the popular Post Office a herculean task.

A prominent Kogite, Abdulmalik Suleiman, said that, since assuming office Governor Bello, did not leave anyone in doubt in the state that there was going to be a departure from the wasteful past and politics of retrogression that‎ had eclipsed the state for long and at the same time retarded her progress.

He reasoned that that though the process and procedure for the staff screening‎ greatly affected genuine workers, the sacrifices made during the period are today beneffiting the workers as they keep getting their salary.

Immediate President, Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeris (JUSUN), Kogi State chapter, Comrade Daniel Ola Adinoyi, described the first year of governor Bello as eventful, adding that the governor has united the three major groups in the state through the appointments he has so far made without ethnic bias.

On his part, Hon Yusufu Andasi noted that Bello has established a situation where the Ebira man, the Igala man and the Okun man can sit comfortably together and relax, as against what it used to be.

A House wife, Madam Theresa Abdul, said, "I like the way the Governor Yahaya Bello has equiped the security agents in the state. Though issues of kidnapping and armed robbery have not completely stopped, I think that if the security personels are serious with the empowerment given to them by the government, peace and security will be restored in the state."

Southern Kaduna: Produce Fulani Herdsmen You Paid Money, Apostle Suleman Tells El-Rufai

Apostlobjectives

General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has asked the Federal Government to compel Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to produce Fulani herdsmen to whom money was paid so as to disabuse the minds of Nigerians that Christians are not the target of President Muhammadu's administration.

The cleric in a statement by his Communications Adviser in Abuja, said failure to compel El-Rufai to produce the herdsmen who purportedly collected money from the Kaduna State Government is an indication of the insincerity of the Buhari administration.

"The Governor of Kaduna State confessed that he paid money to some Fulani herdsmen as compensation to stop the killings in Southern Kaduna. That means he knows those who have committed atrocities against Christians. He must be made to produce them to answer to charges of murder and other crimes", he declared.

"El-Rufai can be safely regarded as an apologist of the herdsmen, and with a fact. On July 12, 2012, he tweeted the following: “We will write this for all to read. Anyone, soldier or not that kills the Fulani takes a loan repayable one day no matter how long it takes.” The governor’s response to the killings in Southern Kaduna has been  consistent with this mindset. In a recent chat with newsmen in Kaduna, the governor made different remarks to substantiate his love the herdsmen and their activities.

"First, he said when he became governor, he traced the attackers to Cameroon, Chad, and Niger and sent a message to them that one of their own, a Fulani like them, was now governor. This comment  displays a dramatically bigoted mindset. A governor of a state in Nigeria was making appeals based on ethnic kinship and brotherhood to a group of foreign killers of people in his  state! In other words, he was appeasing his murderous foreign kinsmen at the expense of indigenes of his state who are not his ethnic kinsmen but whose safety and interests he swore to defend. The governor shocking statement indicates that ethnic solidarity trumped his constitutional obligations to protect Southern Kaduna citizens from the external threats of foreign Fulani herdsmen"

Apostle Suleman's statement came ahead of the invitation by the Department of State Services (DSS) to report at their office in Abuja on Monday, for reportedly asking members of his church to defend themselves if  the Fulani herdsmen attacked them.

But the General Overseer, through his communications adviser said the Federal Government would be engaging in double standards by asking the DSS to invite him while allowing El-Rufai to move about scot free, while adding that the fact that the latter has immunity does not preclude him from investigation.

"There's no end to the killing of Christians in Kaduna. Those behind the heinous crime are known to the Governor. Yet no one has been charged for murder. Instead people like us who speak the truth are being persecuted. The Federal Government must not give the impression of partiality or suggest that Christians are the target of this administration", he added.

Continuing, Apostle Suleman wondered why his recent speeches have been branded by agents of the Federal Government when all he has done is to remain consistent in telling the truth irrespective of whose ox is gored.

Said he: "Which is worse? Saying the truth or offering money to murderers? Did El-Rufai offer money to ghosts? For you to pay someone money, the person must have a known and fixed address. As chief security officer of the state, was it not his business to arrest and put these hoodlums on trial? How come no one has been caught or being prosecuted for the massacre in Southern Kaduna? Obviously, there's more to it that meets the eye".

The head of the Omega Fire Ministries further admonished security agents not to allow politicians and ethnic warlords to use them to achieve parochial  objectives, warning that such a development may lead to grave consequences for the nation.

Five Star Music Reveals Breakage Of Contract By Harrysong, Reason He Is Sued

Skibbi, E-Money, Kcee, Harrysong, Soso Soberekon.
Five Star Music has released an official statement regarding the arrest and prosecution of Harrysong.
The pop singer was reportedly arrested by the Police on Wednesday, after charges of fraud and breach of contract was leveled against him.
The statement revealed, that this is indeed true, and also shared details of how Harrysong was signed, and the terms of his contract that he breached.
According to the statement signed by Mr C.C. Chris for Five Star Music Limited, Harrysong has performed at local and international events without the consent, permission and inclusion of the record label, and has failed to release three studio albums that were contained in his deal.
Excerpts:
It has become both imperative and necessary to state our position on the ongoing misguided and fallacious news making the rounds in the media between our esteemed record label and Mr. Harry Tare Okri.
"Sometime in 2008 when Mr. Harry first approached our record label for a music contract, we immediately declined the request when we found out that he had a subsisting contract with one Mr. Kevin Luciano of ‘Question Mark Entertainment Label’. All efforts then by Mr. Harry to influence our management proved abortive as our position was maintained on grounds of equity, fairness and professionalism.
For further avoidance of doubts on the true facts of the present situation, our management has decided to officially set the records straight, because of negative and pervasive influence being foisted on the psyche of our numerous and well meaning fans.
1.     Our first encounter with Mr. Harry was sometime in 2008 when he approached our management for a music contract. As stated above, according to our findings at that time, his contract with ‘Question Mark Entertainment Record Label’ was still subsisting and valid. Obviously we declined when we found out that Mr. Harry’s plans were ill orchestrated against his employers, by walking out on them without fulfilling the obligations clearly contained in his running contract with them.
2.     When Harry’s employers (Question Mark Entertainment) got wind of his frantic efforts to desert his contract, a stern and official public statement was issued against Mr. Harry and a certain clause establishing his existing contract was clearly published for full consumption by the general public.
3a.    The tussle continued between Harry and his employers till sometime in 2014 when Harry once again approached us, this time very desperate. We opened preliminary discussions with him but demanded an official document from his former employers relieving him of any obligation or liability with regards to his contract with them.
3b.    Our move to do things right and professionally with Mr. Harry earned us a Twenty Million Naira Legal Suit (N20,000,000.00) from Mr. Kevin Luciano of Question Mark Entertainment (Records are there for confirmation). We were joined as co-defendants with Mr. Harry.
Juxtaposing the above with what is going on now, it is quite unfortunate because “Good intentions counts as much as good actions, and the person seeking to do good is as good as someone who actually does it.
3c.    Knowing the vulnerability of Mr. Harry on the impending legal suit, we solicited the help of certain well respected individuals in the Music industry to wade into the matter, one of which was our dear veteran Daddy Showkey. Mr. Luciano having found out our intention from inception to act in good faith, agreed to withdraw his suit against Mr. Harry and our company BUT, not without consequential and settlement fees of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000.00, records available for verification).
We paid this amount solely without Mr. Harry contributing a dime!
4.     It is often said that “When people sense that someone else is vulnerable, they tend to attack, for when the calf falls, the knives come out”. However, in Mr. Harry’s vulnerable situation, we did nothing of the sort. Rather, we whole heartedly bought all his liability off Question Mark Entertainment Label, and welcomed him as a family into Five Star Music Label, a genuine gesture and decision we are all regretting this present day.
5.     Because we are known for running our affairs professionally and legally, we signed a three year contract with Mr. Harry and certain conditions and obligations were specifically and properly spelled out apart from the terms of the contract. Most important of these were his obligations to our Music Label, which amongst others include:
  1. That he must deliver at least, three (3) full music albums on or before the expiration of the first term of his three year contract, otherwise the label solely reserves the right either to rescind or extend the contract.
These conditions were never met.
ii.      While in the employment of the Five Star Music Label, he must not engage himself in anyway whatsoever, whether directly, by proxy or through a third party in any Music or recording business other than that of Five Star Music. This condition was also repeatedly breached as Mr. Harry has been releasing music, going on tours locally and internationally without our consent or paying the agreed percentage to the label.
6.     Five Star Music wishes to state categorically that this reckless breach of contract by Mr. Harry stands contrary to our company’s work ethics and will therefore be pursued to a logical conclusion using the full instrument of the law.
In setting the records straight, let it be known that before now, the label refrained from instituting any legal actions against him for his blatant breach of contract, just because he was still considered as part of Five Star Music family. However, his posture as clearly manifested through his lawyers whom have continued to write and make all kinds of assertions and threats to the label necessitated our immediate response for the general public to know the truth and inherent facts of the story. For it is said, that facts speaks for themselves.
We therefore advice the general public to tread with caution and desist from transacting any business with Mr. Harry Tare Okri, as same is both illegal and a total breach of his existing contract with our record Label, ‘Five Star Music Label’. Notwithstanding what propaganda he feeds the public, we further advice that proper verifications are made from us, as there is no iota of truth emanating therefrom.

Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty, Maroon 5 To Headline Jazz Fest

Stevie Wonder
Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Maroon 5, Usher and Dave Matthews are among some of the big names playing at this year's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
The lineup, announced Friday, includes more than 500 bands covering a diverse array of musical styles over more than a dozen stages set up at the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course.
"All but about 80 of the acts are local," festival organizer Quint Davis said, enthusiastically. "We've evolved to a point though where every stage, every day has at least one national act. It's taken awhile to get to that point, but we're there."
Davis said he was encouraged by the response to the lineup, so far, by fans of the festival.
"A lot of people are really looking at the schedule in depth," he said. "They're paying attention and going deep into it. We're hearing things like, 'Wow, Corinne Bailey Rae's coming' and after rain ruined Snoop Dogg's debut last year, people now have a second chance to see him for the first time."
Some of the other artists appearing include Alabama Shakes, Kings of Leon, Patti LaBelle, Widespread Panic and rappers Pitbull and Nas.
The festival also features artists from Louisiana and New Orleans, such as the Hot 8 Brass Band, Ellis Marsalis, Trombone Shorty, the Soul Rebels, Amanda Shaw and the Cute Guys, Irma Thomas and The Meters.
Jazz Fest's Cultural Exchange Pavilion will focus on Cuba this year. Last year, Belize was in the spotlight. Davis said they're looking to enlarge the pavilion's tent this year allowing more fans to "experience the experience."
"It's going to be Cuban music all day," Davis said.
The festival, presented by Shell, takes place April 28-30 and May 4-7.
Tickets currently are on sale for $65 through Feb. 14. The price rises to $70 on Feb. 15 and the gate price will be $80. Children's tickets (ages 2-10) remain $5. The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, the nonprofit owner of the festival, also gives out 8,000 free tickets to community groups annually.
Davis said he's hoping this year's event will not include the rain that deluged 2016's second weekend.
"I'm starting to question my requests to the weather gods," he said, laughing. "But people are really giving us a lot more slack these days. Last year's first weekend was the best ever, the second was the rainiest ever. Still, people came out in huge numbers, saying 'We're not, not coming!' Whether you experience Jazz Fest in the rain or not, you want to be there."
