AY’s 30 Days in Atlanta Movie grosses Hits Phenomenal Height

30 Days in Atlanta Movie By AY comedian is an the verge of hitting a phenomenal box office mark as it has since its rounds in the cinema grossed more than =N=100 million. Within seven days of its release in cinemas across the country, the feature film directorial debut of comedian Ayo Makun, aka AY, said to have attained an unusual feet, grossed = N=76million. Director, Silverbird Distribution Company, Guy Bruce, who made the announcement at a recent special reception to celebrate the cast and crew of the movie, praised the filmmaker to high heavens. “That it is N76million is quite impressive for a Nollywood film, and we are so proud of AY. We hope he does more movies,” he said
“What else can I add?” AY asked rhetorically. “I will just say ‘thank you’, to God; to the cast, to the crew, and those who go to the cinemas to see 30 Days In Atlanta this history is theirs.”
However, the flick has become the highest-grossing motion picture  of all time, racking up for its producer/director, AY the Comedian the Film of the Year honour by The Creative Industry Awards presented on the same weekend the movie grossed N140million in the Cinemas.
On the same night, The AY Show won for the third consecutive year (since 2013) the TV Comedy Show of the Year, while AY as an enterprising individual won The Creative Entrepreneur of the Year Award which is the highest honour of the Night.
The Creative Industry Awards, organised by the Creative Entrepreneur Association of Nigeria (CEAN) in conjunction with the British Council is unique in rewarding initiative, talent, creativity, and Entrepreneurship. Finalist of the Award are judged on the merit of their entrepreneurial abilities in the Industry, leadership skills and marketing knowledge.
AY couldn’t attend the Awards because he was booked in Akure, Ondo State as the Master of Ceremony of a High-Profile wedding reception. This is how he reacted to the News of his Awards.
“Winning three Categories at The Creative Industry Awards is a fulfilling milestone for us especially because this new set of awards comes just days to the Accra Premiere of 30 Days In Atlanta. We are overwhelmingly grateful to the organisers of the Awards for honouring Creative Entrepreneurs in Nigeria since 2012.
“Now, you will notice that I keep saying ‘we’ all through. That’s because the rising success of 30 Days in Atlanta couldn’t have been just one Ayo Makun’s effort.
“We had the shine of a gifted Cast & Crew. We had a spread of meticulous Silverbird Film Distribution. We had the support of our Super Fans. We had the view of excited Cinema lovers. We had the love of those who voted us the best to win the Awards. And above all, we had Grace – the Grace of God almighty who keeps crowning our cross-culture, romantic-comedy effort with record-breaking and award-winning success.”
Governor Babatunde Fashola, Don Jazzy, Bella Naija, Mo Abudu, DJ Exclusive, Shola Animashaun, Bayo Haastrup, Sahara Reporters, Bank of Industry, and Tony Elumelu Foundation are some of the winners of honoured at the British Council office, Ikoyi, venue of the Awards.
