El-Rufai Denies Asking Anyone To Go And Die

Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai yesterday said he was misrepresented on comments he made during the interactive segment at a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders on Saturday.
El-Rufai said in a statement through his media assistant, Samuel Aruwan, that he did not ask anyone to die over appointments, adding that he was only being emphatic about the need for frank talk when he said those not comfortable with the truth could climb the Kufena Hills  and jump.
The governor added that what he said at the meeting was: “All of us in the Kaduna State government have sworn with the Quran; Christians with the holy bible, to do justice and we will do justice. We better stand and tell ourselves the truth. Everyone knows the truth. No matter the noise, the truth is constant. And as I stand here, no matter who you are, I will face you and tell you the truth. If you don’t want to hear the truth, you can climb Kufena Hills and jump.”
 He said the word “die” was a fabrication dressed as a direct quote due to the fact that his comments were translated from Hausa.

Lagos Assembly Man Laments Hacking Of His Facebook, E-mail

Amember of theLagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Idimogu has distanced himself from text messages being circulated on his email, facebook and other social media platforms, asking people to pay money to a certain doctor's bank account or send a credit card to his email, saying it was the hand work of mischief makers and scammers
According to the lawmaker, scammers on October 21 hacked his email address and facebook sending messages to his friends to the effect that "I made a trip to Addis Abba and unfortunately my niece had a fatal accident yesterday night and needs to undergo surgery which needs N85, 000 to start her treatment. Can you lend me some quick funds that you can afford for now and I will give back as soon as I get back.
"Sorry for the inconvenience but I heard that she is in a very bad condition and needs urgent attention as far as possible. I can forward you details on how to pay the fund directly to the doctor since I am not around so that her treatment will commence before I return. You can only reach me via my email for now. Regards  Jude."
Hon Idimogu, representing Oshodi-Isolo ii in the Lagos State House of Assembly, said he had gone to the said bank and confirmed that the account number where the scammer wanted the money paid is active.
He further stated that another version of the message on his facebook was that a "relation of mine needs serious medical attention but because I was in a meeting they should send credit card that as soon as I'm done with the meeting I will refund the money”.
Regretting that anybody would want to dent his reputation, Idimogu said that he did not travel to Addis Ababa, neither did he solicit for money from anybody nor had any niece who is admitted in any hospital, calling on those who received the unfortunate message to disregard it.
The lawmaker also frowned at the recent publication in social media saying that he was not happy with the use of native language in the House.
He said: "How can anybody say that to the extent that somebody mentioned it on a television programme? Yes I'm not from Yoruba but I married a Yoruba woman, schooled in Lagos, have been living in Lagos, have all my investments in Lagos, understand Yoruba, in fact I'm an adopted son of Yoruba, so I'm in support of the use of native langauge whether in the House, my constituency and everywhere in Yorubaland."

Conduct tribunal adjourns Saraki’s trial to Nov 5

The Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja has adjourned the trial of senate president Bukola Saraki to November 5.

Chairman of the tribunal Danladi Umar said Saraki could “go and relax” till November 5 and 6 when the case will come up again.

Saraki is facing a 13 count charge which borders on false declaration of assets when he was governor of Kwara state preferred against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, Saraki’s defense lawyer Mahmud Magaji, had requested the tribunal to adjourn the case sine die (indefinitely) but the prosecuting counsel Rotimi Jacobs objected to that. He asked the tribunal to adjourn the case out of respect for the Court of Appeal which had reserved judgment on the case.

The tribunal chairman, Umar in his ruling adjourned the suit to November 5.
