Harrysong Is Not Married, Manager Says

Harrysong
Fresh marriage rumours are trailing 'Reggae Blues' singer Harrysong.
Reports just broke that the former 5star music singer's marriage had taken place a few minutes ago.
However in reaction to the development, Harry's manager, Bishop, says the reports aren't true.
According to him, "It's a lie. I don't know where anybody got such story from. Nothing of such happened."
Reports came to the open that Harrysong got married secretly to his girlfriend, 2014 Most Beautiful Girl in Niger Delta, Harriet Eddie, sometime last year in an attempt not to chase away his female fans.
Meanwhile, Harrysong, has reportedly launched his own record label named "Alter Plate". He left former label, Five Star Music to begin a career as a music executive.
The singer is known for hit songs such as 'Beta pikin', 'Ofeshe' and many other hot tracks.
Like former label mate Kcee, Harrysong thinks being married will chase away his female fans thus his reason for marrying secretly.

TCN Blames DISCOs, GENCOs Over Poor Electricity Service

The blame game in the power sector has come to the fore again as Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) claimed that Distribution Companies, DISCOs 30 percent remittances on monthly invoices is responsible for the current poor state of the country’s electricity services, reports Vanguard.
According to the General Manager in charge of Transmission at TCN, Bede Opara, DISCOs have not been able to pay their debts due to energy theft and other issues. “The low revenue collection affects transmissions as well as gas plants. All these are parts of the issues affecting the sector at one point or the other.”
Opara explained that most of the equipment TCN planned to utilize for construction work have been stranded at the ports for between five and eight years. It would be recalled that the GENCOs have threatened to shut down their turbines as a result of huge market debts. Some have even gone to court to get relief.
DISCO official disconnecting lines on electric pole Opara said that the DISCOs have to improve on their monthly remittances otherwise their accounts would be escrowed and their security deposits would be called up in the event of default.

DISCO official disconnecting lines on electric pole Opara said that the DISCOs have to improve on their monthly remittances otherwise their accounts would be escrowed and their security deposits would be called up in the event of default. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Electricity System Operator, NESO, a section of TCN responsible for operating the transmission system, has indicated that due to these shortfalls there is constant collapse of the system. According to their report in May 2016, the national grid collapsed five times. In June, it collapsed four times. July, September and October, each witnessed one collapse, while November and December witnessed three collapses each.
The transmission network was said to have recorded over 26 system collapses in 2016. These were largely blamed on weak transmission network, regarded as the weakest link in the electricity value chain. Before now generation and distribution companies have asked for more time and patience from Nigerians to improve electricity supply.
Their plea came as they identified weak transmission network as a major hindrance to the attainment of the 10,000 megawatts target set by President Muhammadu Buhari to be achieved in 2019. Last week, data obtained, showed that Kaduna, Eko, Jos, Yola, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Ibadan and Benin DISCOs rejected the 1,336.75MWH of power from TCN in the third quarter of this year, despite instability in the supply of electricity across the country.
Specifically, in the month of July, a total of 318.83MWH, which was three per cent of the total energy delivered to the DISCOs, was rejected by four of the firms. In July, the Kaduna DISCO’s rejection of 132.99MWH made it the highest in the month. The Eko DISCO rejected 67.46MWH; Jos, 63.05MWH; while the Yola DISCO rejected 55.33MWH. In the same month, the Port Harcourt DISCO took in the highest quantum of power at 441.43MWH; Kano accepted 397MWH; while the Enugu DISCO collected 302.49MWH. In August, there was an increase in load rejection by the distribution companies to the tune of 541.56MWH, which was four per cent of the total energy delivered to them as against the 318.83MWH delivered in the previous month. The Port Harcourt DISCO rejected the most quantum of power with a total of 239.88MWH, followed by the Eko DISCO with 134.8MWH. In the month under review, five DISCOs took excess load beyond their Multi-Year Tariff Order allocation to the tune of 187.21MWH. The Abuja DISCO took the most, with 132.81MWH; followed by the Kaduna Disco, with 23.21MWH; Ibadan, 16.24MWH; and Enugu, 12.42MWH. Further analysis showed that September saw the rejection of 476.36MW, representing 12 per cent of the total energy delivered to the Discos. It was, therefore, the highest load rejection in the quarter. The Abuja DISCO rejected 94.72MWH, followed closely by Port Harcourt, with 92.35MWH; Ibadan was next with 67.14MWH; and the Benin DISCO turned down 46.40MWH. Among all the DISCOs, only Kaduna accepted power beyond its MYTO allocation, taking in 65.96MWH in excess of its MYTO allocation.

Saraki Launches Made In Nigeria Challenge

Saraki

The Senate president, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has launched a contest to promote made in Nigeria products. The Contest scheduled to run for three months is aimed at showcasing the process and raw materials used in producing such locally made goods.
In a statement personally signed by Saraki, he said that the contest would identify the good products that could be matched with investors and government agencies.
He said that such agencies or investors would drive the products to the extent that they compete favourably with any similar product being imported.
“Today, as promised, we kick-start the soft launch of the #MadeInNigeria Challenge.
“This campaign is organised to showcase everyday products that are used by Nigerians and produced by Nigerians locally that serves as an alternative to imported products.
“The next few weeks, we hope to identify products and ideas that can be matched with investors and government agencies.
“To wrap up the Challenge, in March, we will be inviting some of the finalist to a Made In Nigeria Roundtable at the Senate.
“This Roundtable will allow us, legislators, Government Agencies, business owners, and everyday Nigerian consumers to review and update the report of the National Assembly Business Environment Roundtable (NASSBER), which was held in 2016 to improve the ease of doing business in the country,” he said.

Saraki added that the roundtable would also be used to get feedback on the Public Procurement Act passed by the Senate in 2016.
The amended Act mandates government agencies to give preference to local manufacturers in Procurement of goods and services.
He wished all the participants good luck and called on Nigerians to use the hashtag #MadeInNigeria in all your submitted videos.
To participate in the contest, participants are to shoot a video of between 45 seconds to 3 minutes showcasing their product or service that is an alternative to imported ones.
The manufacturer must utilise up to 70 per cent of locally sourced raw materials to qualify as a made in Nigeria goods or services.
The video has to state the registration status of the company, the number of people currently employed and the intervention you need from government to aid small businesses in Nigeria.

Construction of Abandoned Second River Niger Bridge To Begin Soon, Says Buhari Group

Enugu State chapter of the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) yesterday  appealed to Ndigbo to give maximum support to the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in its quest to better their lot.
The organisation specifically observed that the construction of the dilapidated federal roads in the South-east had effectively taken off, adding that very soon, the construction of the abandoned second Niger bridge will take of in earnest.
The appeal was contained in a statement by the group’s  Publicity Secretary, Chibueze Eze.
In the statement titled: ‘Enugu BSO’s 2017 Goodwill Message to Ndigbo,’ Eze said: “President Buhari has so far lived up to his campaign promises to the people of South-east zone and is ready to do more if given support.
“We are witnesses to the truism that he neither hates Ndigbo nor is he going to Islamise Nigeria as advocated by some ethnic merchants.”
Eze applauded the Buhari administration for the progress made on the construction of South-east federal roads and the approval of additional N16billion by the Federal Executive Council to put the construction of the Second Niger Bridge on top gear. “We had wished that ex-president, His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan had placed the 2nd Niger Bridge on direct federal contract like the Owete Bridge in Benue, instead of PPP model, this could have made the project cheaper and faster.” Eze quipped.
He explained that in just 24 months, the current Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration will achieve what its predecessors in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led federal government failed to do on the roads in the South-east region including   Aba-Calabar, Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene, Owerri-Port Harcourt Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Port Harcourt expressways in 16 years.
The statement read further: “For the first time in over 16 years, our people in the South-east are happy with the intensification of work along Enugu-Onitsha and other federal roads, which were dilapidated and in a state of disrepair for almost two decades.
“The rehabilitation work for instance on the Enugu-Onitsha road is being handled by RCC Limited, a reputable construction company in the country. One lane is now fully functional while work has seriously progressed on the other lane.
“Quite unlike in the past when scores of lives were lost in road accidents on that road every Christmas, there was not even one report of accident or carnage along Enugu-Onitsha expressway this Christmas. It was the same story along Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway. Our people had a smoother ride home for Christmas this year, instead of the bumpy ride they had in the past,” he said.
Eze described the progress made on the roads so far as “part of the fulfillment of electoral promises made to the South-east by President  Buhari.
“President Buhari is now putting it in practical terms. It is no longer promises alone. “Therefore, we urge Ndigbo to use the New Year for stocktaking. They should compare and contrast between what they experienced in the 16 years of PDP, a party they gave 100 percent support and the 20 months of the Buhari administration”
Eze noted: “It is high time Ndigbo count our teeth with our tongues and abandon those ethnic merchants and religious bigots who preach hate only for their selfish interest. These were the few who became millionaires when millions were impoverished. They never remembered the federal roads in the South-east when our dear brother Senator Anyim Pius Anyim was Secretary to Government of the Federation, when our dear sister Dr Ngozi Ökonjo-Iweala was Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, when we had Deputy Senate President and Deputy Speaker etc.”
He urged the people of South-east to have hope in the government as it will in the fullness of time definitely fulfill all promises made to the people of the zone.
