The entertainment
industry in Nigeria may be on the verge of getting better organized as some
issues hitherto neglected are presently being focused on. Among them is image
management which Nollywood actor, Chinedu Ikedieze (MFR)
popularly known as Aki has decided to address as he officially signed Media
Image Managers, MIM, to manage his media personality.
The deal that has been on for months was formally signed at
the actor’s Modupe Johnson’s Surulere-Lagos expansive office late Tuesday.
“We took a decision to take the big brand Aki to an all-time
high, and part of the decision was to get a reputable Media Company; that we
have done and we are happy, myself and my management team,” Aki said at the
brief ceremony.
Justin Akpovi-Esade, Head Lobbyist of MIM said it was a good
feeling to have the opportunity to work with one of the biggest stars in
Nollywood. “Aki is a big brand all over the world, MIM is pleased to be
associated with him and we promise to sustain his media visibility that has not
waned since he attained stardom in Nollywood, and even take it farther than
expected. That is the brief and that is what we have set out to do.”
Akpovi-Esade commended Aki for agreeing to do what big
artistes like him across the world do. “Every artiste worth his onions needs a
professional media Company that acts as his publicist. That is how it is done
in across the world. In Nigeria, most artistes do all the talking and media
promotion and this backfires most times as while he has the skill to perform on
stage, produce chart bursting records/movies, he may not have the same skill in
handling either the public or the media in particular that takes whatever he
says to the public. Mr. Chinedu Ikedieze (MFR) is one star that knows his
onions, and we are glad he has chosen MIM among the lot to manage his media.”
Present at the ceremony were Nollywood top producer
Chidi Nwokeabia, versatile actor/director Charles Inojie and veteran actor Sony
McDon.
Aki, born in Bende, Abia State,
is best known for playing alongside his long time sparring partner Osita Iheme (Paw Paw) in most movies after their
breakthrough in the movie Aki na Ukwa. In 2007, Ikedieze
received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA.
He is also a trained writer.
